A plate lunch is a simple concept containing three elements which synergise wonderfully together. Take 2 scoops of rice seasoned with crushed seaweed (and other ingredients), add a side (typically salad), and then finally the main ingredient which can be poke (cubes or diced seasoned fish), shrimp etc. What’s great about Umeke is how well all these components were put together. Take the shrimp bowl in the picture: freshly cooked superb tasting shrimps, nicely cooked rice, delicious seaweed salad, and boom you got yourself a mega dish. For USD$11, this is a bargain. These dishes reinforce my love for “simple” dishes that are well executed. Highly recommend a visit if you’re in Kona.
