Always used to visit but have not been for a while As always a great traditional warm friendly pub atmosphere The staff, especially Dan the manager, were very friendly and efficient despite being rather short staffed that evening. Food has improved and is wonderful they seem to have got a proper chef in the kitchen and the quality and range has improved dramatically. I had Mushrooms on Bruchetta with garlic (sorry about the spelling! and it was wonderful lots of mushrooms of different types and lots of garlic but not overpowering. The RibEye steak was by far the tenderest and tastiest that I have had for a long time. My wife had the beef stroganoff and I tried the sauce which was also wonder...
The food was excellent. For starters, we enjoyed delicious black pudding and goat's cheese, along with two kinds of mushrooms in a lovely sauce served on bruschetta. For the mains, we had rib-eye steak that was melt-in-your-mouth tender and a rump steak stroganoff that was to die for, clearly freshly cooked to order. The prices were very reasonable, too.
The atmosphere was wonderful—friendly and welcoming, even though the place was busy. The Unicorn used to be one of our favorite spots, especially for a meal, and we've really missed it. I'm thrilled to see a local pub reclaim its former glory. I revisited the Unicorn after some time since it changed management, and I was delighted by the warm welcome and outstanding service. The Timothy Taylor Landlord beer was excellent, and Dan behind the bar was a fantastic host. The food was impressive, with the triple-cooked chips reminding me of their heyday two decades ago when they were the talk of the town. I enjoyed a delicious steak pie paired perfectly with a Cabernet Sauvignon, and all of our meals were cooked to perfection. The value was excellent, and I'm really glad to have the Unicorn as a dining option once again.
A special thanks to the friendly and chatty barmaid, Donna, who shared some interesting history about the venue and mentioned an upcoming refurbishment. I truly hope they do justice to this place and avoid what many pubs and chains tend to do—strip it of its heart and soul. The interior of this pub is simply brimming with character!

Stumbled on this place by searching for dog friendly pubs so decided to give it a go an wasn’t disappointed…the young lad an girl that took our orders couldn’t of been more helpful an made our frenchie feel right at home an both the beef chicken dinner we ordered was delicious so well 100% be returning an can’t recommend enough .
We had a big party for a Sunday dinner, not one of us could fault the food great portion sizes and reasonable prices. Our attention was drawn to Dan who as per usual didn’t fail on his service he provided, from start to finish Dan looked after all of our party and never disappoints!
What a fantastic little pub! The food was amazing, especially the fish cake. I would highly recommend it. The service from Dan was excellent. The ambience was beautifully chilled, and I will definitely return, bringing friends with me!
Visited with my family, great food and a number of tv’s to enjoy the football after my meal. Staff were very accommodating and helpful. Would definitely go again.
