Universal cafe - Réserver une table

I've been here yesterday with my wife, out of the many restaurants and cafe's on that particular street we thought we'd eat here because we were hungry and wanted to get our food in good time (usually, with crowded restaurants it can take a while.) So we stopped at Universal Cafe because there were only a couple of tables occupied.Bad choice ! We took a table closer to the bar, and oh boy. the things you can see when you're closer to their "inner workings".There was a young server which dropped a fork, looked around, saw (or so she thought) no one saw her and put it right back on the table. Also, the owner was around, which was caressing the young staff females, hugging them etc...At one time they were all gossiping about some customers which were on the far end of the terrace, quite professional.All in all, what a classy restaurant, right ? Spare yourself the pain of not knowing if your utensils are clean. or even worse

My wife and I ate lunch here two days in a row - the food is decent, the staff friendly and welcoming and the prices pretty good. The first day we enjoyed a bottle of Rose with some omelettes and salads and the second day some beers and a variety of small dishes. It has a front seating area that opens onto the square and is great for people watching. When it is too sunny and warm the owner walks around giving out sun hats!

With the Mistral blowing on a May Sunday night we were glad to find this open. Nice service and pleasant interior. However, my poisson, served on a bed of mash with a small side aubergine, though tasty had been placed on a cold plate and the underlying mash and attempt at veg had gone cold. Would probably not go back.

Like all other neighbours,establishments for tourists,placed on main vaison place. Menu .no originality,no quality. Better have there only a drink or coffee, eat elsewhere.

We take the menu of the day. The starter, gambas with salad was good. The main dish, lamb with garlic and vegetabels was very good. The prices are ok.
