The Varsity Inn was a delight! I decided to stop into this place after seeing their VERY POLITE signs for nearby construction crews to please save the few parking spots on the side street of this diner for their customers. Brilliant! To me that just seemed friendly, so I stopped in for a late breakfast served all day . The place was sunny, open and clean. The staff were all friendly and the service was timely. Diner standard menu here, but a few omelette twists. My simple ham and egg plate was well prepared, the hash browns crispy as requested. HUGE! Prices are very good. I suggest stopping in here for hits the spot standard diner fare. Very pleasant late breakfast. I 'm sure I 'll be using...

I pass by this restaurant almost every day and finally decided to give it a try. The service was quick and friendly, and the menu looked good, but the food was just okay. It definitely fits the description of diner food, as someone else mentioned. I ordered the corned beef hash, which didn't seem homemade, and my spouse had the chicken fried steak, which also didn't appear homemade. It wasn't terrible, but at $40 for two people, it seems a bit pricey for the quality. The portions were generous, but I would have preferred smaller portions for a lower price or higher quality food.
Just about everyone in Wallingford will tell you that the Varsity is the best cafe in town. The pancakes are the best I've ever had. The authentic Mexican specials are incredible. They serve just breakfast and lunch, but so worth it. This is an old fashioned authentic village cafe when everyone knows everyone else, you're greeted with a hug from the owner and you leave full and happy. Many of the best celebrity chefs in town will come here for breakfast. Expect a line on weekend mornings. If in Seattle, this is a must do!!
My husband and I went to this restaurant for breakfast today and were disappointed by the food. The oil used to cook the hash browns and eggs gave them a bad flavor. The bread also tasted stale. Our omelettes had canned mushrooms and spinach that smelled bad. My husband, who rarely complains about food, had to put hot sauce on his omelette to make it edible. I ended up not eating mine at all. However, the two servers were very friendly. We will not be returning to this restaurant. Réservez une table maintenant
Let me just say I love this place. It reminds me of a dinner I would go to in a small town or when I was younger. Its not fancy and its not high end food. It is friendly, welcoming, feels like home and make good pancakes. I love Patty the owner/manager. She always makes me feel like she was expecting us.
This great place has found a way to survive with great take out service. All of their menu is available for you to pick up. We've been coming here for breakfast for years and we're happy that they are hanging in there. Great espresso drinks. Corned beef hash and huevos rancheros are both fantastic
I visited this restaurant for the first time and ordered waffles with eggs and sausage. In my opinion, the prices were a bit high. While I wouldn't completely rule out returning to this place, it would definitely be towards the bottom of my list of preferred stops.
I enjoy checking out indie diners because I love breakfast! I recall two Varsity Inns, one in Ravenna (now as Ravenna Varsity separate ownership) and... Réservez une table maintenant
I've been here in 2011 and 2023... This is more consistent than any of my past relationships. Your standard brunch offerings wit the Seattle upcharge...

"Amazing 360 degree views of Seattle and beyond! Makes the Space Needle look tiny from up there, and it's also nice that they offer food and beverages up there. Worth the cost of admission and uncrowded, even on the Saturday we went."
