This is the establishment that downtown Burlingame needed! The ambiance is perfect to relax with a glass of wine. They have pleasant music playing in the background and somehow the acoustics of the space made it easy to converse without having to talk loud. They offered me a complimentary sparkling wine as soon as I sat down! The wine selection is huge, even though I didn't know much about particular wines, I described what I liked to the owner Jason and he ordered delicious wines for me. The staff was very friendly and the open layout, high ceilings, and seating areas are very inviting without feeling pretentious. I love outdoor seating and this place has a small outdoor patio in the back....
Velvet 48 is a wine shop paradise in downtown Burlingame. They have a great extensive selection of exquisite wine and small bites you can explore . Love their exceptional spicy red wine flight Bodegas Borsao Grenache-Smooth and tasty with notes of aromas and cinnamon, hint of spicy ginger , lovely soft flavors and little tannin. A must try wonderful wine to enjoy anytime . Service was good and helpful with recommendations. The ambience is nice and relaxing . The interior design is chic and beautifully decorated with sparkling lights, high ceilings, and huge windows. Comfortable outdoor patio is available as well . Velvet 48 is great place to hangout or just wine down from a hectic day.
including 48 wine bar is a fabulous wine bar in the inner city of burlingame. when I visited, I was blown away from the complementary foam wine welcome all guests enjoy their stunning interior architecture and amazing wine list. some of my favorites contain the champagne through the glass including krug billecart (two of my favorites)- as well as their amazing still wines through the glass. eating is also delicious with cheese plates, a baked braut that I loved and other delicious bites. every wein lover must look at velvet 48 and you will love it as I. and be sure to deal with the personal, they are super nice, very experienced and know so much about wein to share with guests!
We found this wine bar by chance when we were in Burlingame for a dinner. It was a great find: we drink wine four or five times a week and have strong opinions (not necessarily right, but strong opinions), but they were able to introduce us to new wines. They have an excellent selection and the servers are very attentive. The proprietor was circulating and we had fun conversation about the wine bar and his philosophy. The staff was very gracious about pouring a taste . I strongly recommend a visit!

One of the best wine bars in the city! We love the cozy interiors, complete with comfortable lounge sofas and an excellent selection of wines. The staff is friendly and provides great recommendations. During our first spontaneous visit, we ended up purchasing three bottles from the house, and we’re thrilled with our choices. They also have some fantastic deals on wine for sale from time to time.
Lovely, and much needed, addition to the Burlingame landscape. This little wine bar offers a fun array of glasses and bottles for in-bar and take-home service, with stunning decor and a warm and friendly service experience. An especial shout out to their cheese and charcuterie combo board (the genius move of the owner's wife). Highly recommend stopping in and giving it a try or six.
Very nice wine bar, great atmosphere, when we got there they welcomed us with a glass of rose. We ordered some wine and it was great. They have a limited food items, but what they serve is decent and good quality. They have a large collection of wines.
Mary Beth is new to the team and is just the best, so knowledgeable about wine and so hospitable and friendly! Great addition to the team at Velvet 48 which is most likely the best wine bar in all of the Peninsula

Every time I visited, it was a wonderful experience. The staff is very knowledgeable, and the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. I recommend ordering some snacks and enjoying them on the cozy little terrace.
A fantastic spot to gather with friends. They offer an excellent selection of wines and a delightful variety of appetizers.
