My friend was visiting me for her thirtieth birthday, and I wanted to #shoplocal for a cake. Her birthday falls right between Christmas and New Years, so I preordered a couple of weeks in advance. We went with the smallest size of the Chocolate Raspberry cake. The cake itself was amazing--not overly sweet and I liked the use of whipped cream instead of buttercream since it made the cake feel much lighter. Knocking off a star because the customer service is extremely lacking. I ordered online 2 weeks in advance by filling out the form on their website. Yesterday a group of us popped in after lunch. I was unaware that there was a Victory Bakery here at Bon Air until my friend pointed it out. The bakery is no longer affiliated with the one in North Beach in San Francisco; however we were told they make the same items. Hubby's eyes widened at the sight of the palmier. He knew he wanted that. What did I want he asked. Give me a minute. Everything looked good. The princess cake caught my eye. I asked for a slice. It was nicely boxed. This is a charming little shop with really good coffee and many delicious cakes and pastry items. The reason they didn 't get a full 5 stars from me is because of their Italian cookies. The so-called Italian cookies here have the flavor of Mexican cookies. If you are familiar with both, then you know the difference in the batter and the flavor. Not the same at all. But I still recommend the bakery for their other desserts and lovely coffee drinks.
We had a custom cake made here for my son and it was amazing! The cake tasted great, and the decoration was spectacular! The level of detail was incredible, and you could tell they put so much time and care into making it look perfect. My son was so excited to see Little Blue Truck on his birthday cake!
