Don't let the size of this place fool you, that pack in the flavor! They are known for their poboys, but their salads are unbelievably great, too! For seafood lovers, you can't go wrong with the fried shrimp. Pot roast seems to be a crowd favorite, but I love the Club Supreme it's a traditional deli meat trio with the pot roast gravy added on top! It's not as messy as it sounds. It's perfectly balanced. They have poboy specials each day so you can get a discounted sandwich and try something new. The halves are really like 3 4 of a whole it seems, so it's a huge value. Small cafe on Hwy 167 between Lafayette and Abbeville, LA. Ambiance was good with lots of antiques hanging on the walls. Shrimp plate was very good and had lots of shrimp. Chicken Fried Steak was of the frozen patty kind…ok but nothing special. The po Boys looked good and is what we probably should have ordered. We ordered at the counter then they called our name when it was ready. Everything served in plastic styrofoam containers. Staff was friendly and attentive. We could eat here again.
The Villager's Cafe is hands down the best poboy place in the area. They use real poboy style french bread. The meatballs seems to be a combination of sausage and ground meat and is seasoned well. The pot roast is a sloppy as the come. The shrimp poboy is loaded with perfectly fried shrimp. The French fries are cut more like a potato chip. The funnel cake fries are a sweet treat
great atmosphere. I have both a Philly cheese steak and a grilled chicken poboy. full size, I and my man wanted to share them. was enough for 4 people at 28 not bad in price. the philly was amazing?. one of the others had covered the huh with so much scavenging. much too much for us and I like a good piece of screed. but sharing the phillie was a lot for us. I really do not know how Villager's Cafe could improve... Villagers is among the very best Po boys in the south, freshly made and delicious. Villagers Cafe is also very well managed, very item is consistently prepared and the service is excellent. I just decided lunch for tomorrow, an Italian Villager add mayo and tomatoes...
We stopped by on our way through town. I had the grilled shrimp salad and my husband had the fried shrimp plate. Both were side-to-side full of yummy shrimp. We also shared an order of beignets. It was hard to share because they were so good. I would be a regular here if I lived locally.
