This place is quite known to specialise in Northern Vietnamese cuisine so decided to give it a try. Decided to try the pho tai to start things off. <br/ <br/ Interior of the restaurant had a Vietnamese feel to it with the usual wooden stools and low level tables and it made me feel as if I was back in Vietnam, especially Hanoi. <br/ <br/ The pho was served out within 10-15 minutes. As you know Northern pho is known for their broth more than the cuts of meat and this is exactly what was reflected in the bowl; a strong rich beefy broth. With a variety of different dishes and unique delicious flavours coming together, I had an absolutely amazing experience for my palette here. <br/ <br/ So many standout dishes, it was hard to choose a favourite but if you do happen to visit.... my recommendation would have to be...<br/ <br/ xoi thit kho steamed sticky rice with stewed pork belly egg of course the pork Nem. We were hunting for dinner on a thursday night. Lots of joints around,especially thai and vietnamese... it was a difficult choice. We saw some people sitting outside VN with food on a banana leaf i think?? It just looked really interesting and we got pulled in.. i am glad we did. We went for their menubox option as my partner is not a meat eater. I kinda wish i went for their highly recommended dishes that came in a basket and leaf! Next time. Anywho my pork belly was cooked to perfection!!! Would definite come back to try more. Cost effective too.
What shocked me with the menu was how ridiculously cheap the dishes were! The portions were not those insanely small plate-sized ones, but your average for-one-sized plates. It made it so much easier for me to add two more sides to try out, alongside our main dishes. Dishes were categorised under rice paper rolls, sides, rice vermicelli, rice dishes and pho. Bun bo la lot $11.50) Pan-fried pho $12.60): the betel leaf was the highlight of the dish, great char flavour and still juicy -everything else was as expected for a Vietnamese fan-fare. My bf really enjoyed his pan-fried pho, you have regular pho noodles flash fried with a beef gravy sauce topper. “Doesn’t taste like pho but still good” his words). I think it’s more on par with a pad se ew wet gravy.
VN Street Foods is a different style of Vietnamese restaurant. I wanted to try something different so went with the Bot Chien which were a type fried rice cakes. <br/ <br/ I wasn’t expecting much but was very pleasantly surprised. Very tasty!
Generous serves of good food. Well-prepared, at least, the fried spring rolls and the fried stuff with the sticky rice coming out well. Rather light on flavour, otherwise much better than I was expecting from a chain.
Awesome place to grab Vietnamese food, the owner is very approachable. I asked him what I should get because it was my first time and he smiled. He pointed at a dish straight away and it did not disappoint.

My favourite go to Vietnamese food in Marrickville.Big serving and good value for money on the set menu.Make sure you get there at off peak hour to avoid the waiting.
