"Our return was hampered by poor weather so we ate inside the main restaurant. The view outside was still beautiful even though it was grey and wet. The food was fantastic as last time, we chose the local mushroom seasonal soup then the wild boar...washed down with 5 wine taster menu of the region. Highly recommended if your in the area"

We visited soon after the restaurant reopened. Hopefully our disappointment was a result of reopening pains. On the positive side, the restaurant has probably the best view of the Main Valley. As before the renovation, it is always filled to capacity. The redesigned outdoor seating...area has several safety hazards that could lead to serious falls. These are so obvious that it is hard to understand why they are still there. The wait staff was the usual mixed bag. Some employees are eager to please while others seem permanently annoyed by customers. They employed new electronic devices to take and manage the orders. Perhaps it was the lack of experience with them, but the order taking took about double the time that paper and pencil would. The menu is surprisingly limited despite the enlarged dining area and kitchen. Prices are somewhat higher than merited by the quality and service. Four of us met there to eat and each tried a different dish. While all were satisfactory, none stood out as anything out of the ordinary for Gasthaus fare. Portion sizes were adequate. I am reluctant to blame next-day digestive disturbances to a specific meal or place. Often there is no provable link. Let me just say that each of the four of us had the same unpleasant digestive symptoms the next day and the Vogelsburg meal was the only meal we took in common. Despite the splendid view and generally pleasant facilities, there were so many problems that I cannot rate this restaurant as even average.

We sought refuge in the Vogelsburg “Flüchtlingsgräber”. This time you can use a renovated Vogelsburg in a deluxe room. I have a reception late Sunday afternoon. Our room was large and well equipped, with an airy bathroom and a comfortable...bed. Being familiar with the area we have just wondered was that actually the area with river views? From the window we lean the river view. The terrace we visited so often in the past was renovated. This was always our favorite place to spend an early evening, enjoy the fantastic view, with a bottle of Juliusspital wine and some fresh made asparagus. Surprisingly, we couldn't get right in front of the restaurant because this area had some kind of self service. Although quite confusing, we were served to the delicious asparagus from the restaurant. Maybe you can take the area right in front of the restaurant and serve hotel guests here. The next morning and the next morning we were greeted by very friendly staff, and a rich breakfast, just what we were looking forward to, plan to spend the week to the “wine mountains.” All very satisfied. Besides that is for a hallux rigidus, a sunken big toe, a result of the bump my foot against a hidden step in the restaurant. Nevertheless, it has not denied the impression of a wonderful week in Vogelsburg and slow walks. The strange title... Well, a positive review can attract guests, and so we can find it difficult to get a room next time.

High above the Main, with magnificent views and high views. In the immediate vicinity, the Augustinian sisters cultivate the pen of the same name. You can go 1-2 a year along the high street of Volkach and back here because it is one of the most popular Franconian destinations. Surrounded by vineyards there is a priority here: drinking wine. Natural delicacies of the region. For red wine fans a must: the Domina grapes (deep dark, strong). It's a good Vesper. I personally love the cheese from Camembert, beautifully decorated with greenware and sallets. A wonderful place!

We arrived in the evening to the stunning former monastery/ work house completely restored to its former glory. We had a table outside over looking the fabulous views of the Franconian vineyards. We were lucky to be in asparagus season spargel) so went for...the local dishes and a 5 course wine tasting. The local wine soup was outstanding and all the food was truly first class. The staff were professional, friendly and attentive and were clearly proud of their restaurant hotel. Highly recommended if your in this area it's definitely logged as a souvenir
