My friend and I chanced by the Waldegrave Arms which we have passed many times on our days out, but this time it looked so welcoming, warm and cosy that we ventured inside. We were immediately charmed! The pub interior is quite olde-worlde, really nice. The staff are so welcoming and friendly, also very efficient because our food arrived in no time! We chose scampi with chips (there was a choice of chips, jacket or potatoes), with garden peas and a very generous salad, all included in the very reasonable price. The scampi was in perfect light batter, and the chips some of the best we've ever had, crisp outside, fluffy inside. All-in-all it was a very warm and pleasant meal. We love The Walde...

We went to this restaurant for Sunday lunch last weekend. The owner greeted us warmly and we had a nice chat with him. We were seated at a table in the bar and ordered two roast beef lunches. While we waited, we enjoyed a glass of wine and a delicious local ale. The meals were fantastic - the beef was flavorful and tender, the vegetables were cooked perfectly, and everything was served hot. We also each had a dessert, which was homemade and very tasty. We left feeling very full as the portions were quite generous. The pub was bustling with a friendly vibe. This restaurant is known for its excellent home-cooked food, reasonable prices, and laid-back atmosphere. It is highly recommended to mak...

Not been here for 15+ yrs then it was good. So we had a ride out from North Somerset and stopped off for Lunch. On a Friday. Well it’s not changed. Derick and Allan were behind the bar and it was the same old welcome has before. The food on offer was a good choice. We opted for their Fresh Brixham fish. That’s was very tasty. Only difference back then the chips were cooked in Beef Dripping. Wasn’t the same. But good. The portions were first class. The service was Excellent both the food and behind the bar. They made us very welcome. We were full but went for the desert option too. Well the Homemade Cheesecake was to die for. Overall it was worth the journey and will definitely visit again. S...

We stopped by this restaurant on a whim and were impressed by its appearance. Upon entering, we were greeted promptly by friendly staff. We decided to order the ploughman's lunch, which included cheddar, Stilton, beef, and ham. We both opted for a combination of two choices. I chose cheddar and ham, which was delicious and came with a lovely salad, pickle, onion, apple, crusty white bread, an egg, and crisps. The ham and cheese were both excellent. My husband chose Stilton and beef, which he also enjoyed. He also tried a pint of Gorge ale before ordering it. Overall, it was a wonderful meal served by pleasant staff in a beautiful setting.

This restaurant is exactly the kind of local, country pub that many people dream of owning. We stumbled upon it while looking for a place to have dinner after a day out and we definitely hit the jackpot. The interior is charming and cozy, the host is very friendly, and the pub food is delicious with generous portions at affordable prices. The only thing that could use a little improvement is the cleanliness of the toilets, but overall, our experience was fantastic. Definitely worth a visit.

Stopped on the way back from Bristol to Sherborne after a very long hectic day, in desperate need of some food, which on a Monday evening is nigh on impossible. You can imagine our delight when Derek said they were open for food and what a super meal we had. Fabulous food, great portions and wonderful value. It was so nice to see the pub fill up with locals coming in for dinner, a great accolade to a well run, welcoming pub with a very warm atmosphere.

We received a warm welcome from the landlord and good service from the staff. We only came in for a pint but would be back for the food, it looked lovely. Nice atmosphere and traditional decor.

From as soon as we stepped over the threshold Allan was warm and welcoming. He, his wife and the rest of the staff offered fast, friendly service and great food.

Down to earth family pub. Really friendly and welcoming staff. Reasonable prices for standard pub grub type food. No complaints here.
