I was not impressed with this place due to the service we received. The food was good but not good enough to make up for the overall meh experience we had. We asked to sit outside and told there was a wait. No problem as this was to be expected on a Saturday. We were told we could order drinks while we waited through a server outside. It took about 15 minutes for someone to come up and ask if we wanted a drink, then it took another 20-30 minutes for us to get that one glass of wine….and they was after my husband tried to order at the bar and then had to track down another server to eventually get the glass of wine. It's one of the best meals I've had in York. I went with friends, and the atmosphere was sophisticated yet semi casual. We wore dress pants, dresses, and button shirts and blended nicely with the crowd. This is a wonderful romantic spot to get out for dinner without the children. They have a wonderful creative cocktail menu as well as IPAS and a very long list of wines to complement your meal. The menu has just the right mix between meats pastas, chicken pork, and vegetables. Every bite was flavorful and a true palate experience. My group enjoyed all that we ordered. We finished the evening with what I would consider a trademark of Walkers, their Brioche Donuts. We had a wonderful experience at Walker’s last week! The service was outstanding and the food matched the service. We have eaten at Walker’s a number of times over the years and it is never a disappointment. The menu changes regularly and two items that stood out on this visit were the lasagna and the duck. The lasagna was made with a white sauce in the style of northern Italy and the duck was complimented with rice and chard that matched the spices in the meat. In addition, the wines suggested by the server were both unique and enhanced the taste of the food. As always, we look forward to our next visit!
1st: ordered a cosmopolitan, (3 of us) had to send them back as they tasted too sour. 2nd: ordered the burger which was good for a burger. It came with fries. I could NOT eat the fries as they tasted like they opened the salt shaker and poured the salt in them. 3rd: told the waitress about it and nothing was done. I am a full time resident here and sorry to say, but, I will NOT return to this establishment! Réservez une table maintenant
We ordered the crab rangoons, salmon, and the haddock. Everything was great. The only downside is that everyone that came to our table was very unfriendly. They barely said two words to us and we felt a little uncomfortable in the atmosphere of seemingly unhappy people. When we said “thank you” anytime they brought anything over, there was no response.
We were recommended to this restaurant after our hotel's (Cliff House) restaurant was unable to seat us for dinner for the third day in a row. Their loss was our gain! The food was delicious with generous portions. The lasagna and pork Mac and cheese were especially wonderful. We highly recommend this restaurant.
The cauliflower appetizer and the donuts for dessert are the standout dishes on the menu at Walker's. Most people also enjoyed their entrees. However, I am concerned about the ongoing fruit fly problem they have had for over a year. This is not a common issue at other restaurants.
