Or try the veal chop with mushrooms, the trout, or a traditional soup with thin strips of pancake. The restaurant is small and quite simple, serving mostly neighborhood couples and families. Since all the food is fresh and cooked to order onsite, the service may feel a bit slow but it's really just friendly and unhurried. Walter's is about 15 minutes from the city center - get off the 57A bus at Brückengasse and just cross Gumpendorfer Strasse. You'll be rewarded with the genuine food of Austrian, unpretentious and satisfying, and delicious most of all.

walter’s kitchen is a white beisl in the best sense of the word. the kitchen is predominantly Austrian and excellent, zb das kalbsgulasch mit butternockerln is a dense! very good meat quality, generous portions. the chef cooks himself and that really good. Unfortunately, it is lacking in the service, sometimes the gast gets the bad laune of the waiter with (son of the chef.) the used skit often stays long at the table, which I find very uncomfortable. At any rate you can recommend walter’s kitchen if you take a discount in the service.
We found this restaurant on our bike tour back to the Pilgrammagasse subway station from Schloss Schonbrunn. We had free Viennese city bikes and decided to park the bikes and explore the neighborhood, as there is a little outside the center, but close to a subway station. Walter...in the sign that presents the daily menu. We were thrilled with everything. Great food, value and service. The place was full of locals with lunch so we knew we had a great lunch and it was.

I need to review my review from December 2014: the service has changed very much to positive! the staff is very friendly and especially very flott! long wait for eating - never! friendly staff - always! a really good local with excellent eating and great service! highly recommended!
Walter's Cuche is a small local restaurant that is visited by locals and is perfect for travellers. They have lunch specialties for up to 6,50 € daily and the food is really good. Service is very friendly, speak some English and have an English menu. Very good.

we were three at walter today and were totally enthusiastic. nice service, very tasty Wiener schnitzel (on request also as a senior portion) and friendly gastronomy. highly recommended.
