Restaurant Weidstuebli is about a 45 minute uphill hike from Leukerbad, but you are rewarded with amazing views. In wintertime, I guess you can ski right up to it. There's a large terrace area and an indoor area. The food was more or less normal Walliser specialities and Swiss food, but it was well prepared. I had the Walliser sausage (like a salami), and my wife really enjoyed (for once) her salad with, I think it was Goat's cheese? It was relatively full for lunch even in the middle of the week, so on weekends I'd definitely book. Service was also efficient and friendly, and the prices weren't crazy for a mountain Stübli.
Came upon this place only because we were out for a walk and there it was. Loved the delicious sounding menu and struggled to make a choice. Went for one quiche and one Wiener schnitzel. Absolutely delicious. And delightful staff too. Will definitely go back to eat there even though it’s well over an hour from where we are staying.
The place is right by the slopes, so after a hard skiing day, nothing can beat a fresh apfel strudel. the food is excellent, freshly made, lots of swiss specialties. You can also walk from Leukerbad. They say is 25 minutes, but is almost 50! anyway, is definitely worth the hike.
