Wow! The shop had a few folk waiting for their food when I turned up but the moment I stepped in I received a hello! After ordering (cod and chips) I was offered a small portion of chips whilst I waited, I was taken aback but hugely impressed.... it is rare you get such attention to customer service! The fish was battered and fried whilst I watched, I waited about 8 (ish) minutes. It was well worth the wait! The fish was cooked to perfection, the battery was light and crisp, the chips.... oh oh oh absolutely delicious, fat, crisp on the outside/fluffy in the middle and plenty of them. Absolutely delicious.
We visit Margate a number of times a year and Westgate Fish Chips remains one of our favourite Fish Chip shops to go to (If Peters Fish Factor in Margate is very busy, when we are travelling back home). More often than not, we have a positive experience here. Very infrequently the chips may be tepid. More often, they are freshly coked and very hot. Staff are always friendly and polite. On this occasion, (Oct23), they were extremely hot and tasty.
What a lovely touch for them to offer me a mini cone of chips to nibble on while I was waiting for my fish to be fried! Stuff like that makes all the difference and shows that they care and the people working there looked like they were happy and having fun, which is a great sign and fills you with confidence. I had Haddock and 'small ' chips and that was enough to fill two of us Thanks
Deadout weak, wouldn't even give it 1 star chips dripping in grease tasted disgusting. Fish tasted like it was a week old and most of the fish was batter you couldnt even call it fish again dripping in grease. Calamari wasnt even fresh tasted like it was reheated and rock hard. Deadout give it a big swerve. Dont believe the hype...... Below par......... Réservez une table maintenant
The best Fish and Chips in Thanet, if not the best F&C I have ever had. I have been to Maggie's in Whitby, and Westgate is much better than them. The Fish AND the Chips are cooked Fresh while you wait. The fish is always so fresh, and the chips are just perfect. The service is very friendly. 15/10. I will not go anywhere else.
Came in last night to grab some food. Excellent. All freshly cooked to order. Good portion sizes. Batter on the cod was crispy not greasy. Chips just how they should be, fluffy inside and piping hot. My partner had a burger. Which was also very good. Polite and friendly staff. Good price too.
A great portion of chips and onion rings with a buttered roll and some mayonnaise is what I got. Was driving past, feeling peckish and really glad I stopped to check this place out. The staff were really polite and produced the goods in no time at all. Would definitely go again!

The food was delicious and the service was very good! The fish was a little big and tooooooooooooooo much vinegar! The guy that sold the food was very nice and friendly! The burgers were dry and boring. But in general you can go there and eat original english fish and chips!
