By distance this is our local really but we haven 't been in quite a while. We went early p.m for a change of scenery and tea out. We had booked a table and were seated pretty quickly, it seemed that most of the tables were reserved so probably a good job that we had booked. It is a bit haphazard at the bar, having to wait in a queue that has no discernable start or finish. We set up a tab to make it easier when ordering extra food/drinks. The service was good, staff were very pleasant and the food and drink times were standard for a local bar. My husbands meal was okay, but the steak was a bit grissly (always seems to be the case which is why i don 't order steak from there). I did my usual...
What started as a mistaken visit due to there being a pub of the same name nearby, we were more than pleasantly surprised with our little mix up. We were given a very warm welcome on arrival and the food smelled amazing, after realising our mistake we were welcomed to stay! It's a beautiful place, great decor, very roomy, lovely staff and spotlessly clean. With a bill of £36 for 3 adult main meals, 1 pint and 1 Pepsi, we weren't expecting the portions that came but they were extremely generous, food was hot and delicious and all brought out together. We can't wait to return, even planning a breakfast visit for next week.
The service was quick and friendly. We ordered the halloumi fajitas, which were delicious and came in a generous portion size. However, there aren't many vegetarian options on the menu. When we bring my mother here, we always end up ordering the halloumi fajitas because there are limited choices for vegetarians. The mac and cheese dish is not very exciting and the Dopsu non-meat burger may be suitable for vegans but is not ideal for vegetarians. It would be great to see more variety in vegetarian options, such as a proper veggie burger or a spicy bean burger instead of relying on fake meat substitutes.
We had another fantastic meal today at The Wheatsheaf. Every meal we've had there has been perfect. The staff are always friendly, even when it's busy. We also attended the Christmas tree switch-on event, which was a successful fundraiser for Make-A-Wish charity. Emma did a great job keeping the event running smoothly with the help of the staff. Well done to all!

2nd time in this month. Again short staffed. Still amazing service. Although she wasn't well Emma was her fantastic self. Nothing is to much for her especially when it comes to our allergies. News ish lad on the bar, think his name is Colin is a lovely lad. Hope all the staff at the Wheaty have a great Christmas and New Year. See you all in January x
My wife and I always go for the sizzling steaks at this restaurant because they are consistently tasty, hot, and great value for money. We usually pair them with a bottle of Rioja. The staff is always pleasant, welcoming, and helpful. The pub/restaurant is well-maintained, clean, and warm.
Another tasty meal , sizzling chicken melt in the mouth , sticky toffee ice cream delicious , staff and service great , lots of interaction with customers , it always feels comfortable eating here , shame it’s not closer to where I live would call in more often ,
Sunday afternoon , rib. rump cooked to my liking cannot fault any meal I have had here , finished off with waffles delicious, staff always have a welcome smile , looking forward to the Christmas tree lights , will be there for a meal table already booked ,
