We have visited this restaurant last week for dinner and we were very delighted by the food, the service and the interior.A lovely place to unwind and relax with friends. It is equally good for business meetings.Apart from standard menues they offered a very creative dish which was a combination of slowly cooked chiecks of a young pig with a super sauce. Apart from the chickes the dish included wonderfully tasting snails and walnuts and was served on a risotto bed.We learned that the kitchen chef will leave by the end of the year and will be succeededby a lady cook. I visited this restaurant with my mother and it just so happend that Wipperaue restaurant is celebrating 20 years under the same management. Two glasses of complimentary proseco was not a bad start. The menu featured had surprisingly large selection of fish and the more common German dishes. My mother tried the fish and I had a pork dish. I had the half lunch portion which turned out to be more than generous. Service was promt even with a rather busy service. All in all better than average German food with good service. After this meal you can wander along the Wupper which in its current restored state is worth walking along once again. Fishing is possible once again also.
Wipperau has been transformed into a very attractive location for wedding and other celebrations. Its riverside beer garden is a lovely spot to have a drink and light meal. However, the beautifully situated outdoor dining experience at the front side of the hotel lacks trained staff. They are polite but inefficient and slow. The food can be described as average. A pity, the place has such potential, it just needs to be more professional with its service. Stil worth a visit to enjoy the location.
thanks to the staff who recommended this restaurant as it would not be easy to find. the photos do not give the atmosphere a meal on their terrace would be great for a romantic evening or celebration. it is a little pricy, but the food was beautiful and the Dutch waiter was very attentive. it would go back there for a special occasion. there were proper hygiene measures.
Yesterday we were in this restaurant and we were really dissapointed: winter menu in the spring, very ordinary dishes, bad vitello tonato (very small part of the salsa-tonnata, so they eat only meat.) nothing seasonal, nothing inventive, boring weingut, personal nice, but nothing special....Hardly, we come back.

What a beautiful part of Germany. I highly recommend eating at the restaurant and if you do, ask for Frau Hoddzic she is absolutely brilliant.
