Wolters is not in the main run of restaurants along the Hafenweg, but benefits from being at the junction of two canals and having a small dock/marina attached so has the best view on the strip : you are looking at a wide expanse of water...not just the industrial building opposite. You cannot get to it by road along the canal from all the other bars and restaurants, it is really tucked away, so by vehicle you have to make a circuit inland , but it is well worth finding. There is a small outside terrace for al fresco dining (book early to grab one of those tables on a sunny day). We went on a cool evening so sat inside the very large dining room, after going out to admire the view. The food is described as Turkish but it is far from the doner/shish kebab variety, more Turko-German fusion. The menu has a a wide variety of meat and fish. The speciality dishes are cooked in a wood-fired clay oven inside the restaurant. My lamb was delicious. There is a better wine list than I expected and I had a very decent bottle of south American red. The service was good from a charming eastern European waitress who spoke some English (the working language of our international group) and went out of her to explain the various dishes. The decor is interesting. We sat at wooden tables with bench seats but it still felt reasonably gracious. Prices were reasonable by local standards especially given the unusual character of the venue and the excellent location. I would certainly like to return.
