First, calling a restaurant "Wonder Meals" will make it the bud of many jokes. "Let's have a wonderful time at Wonder Meals." I can't understand the past reviews, the food is marvellous! The food is not "Aussie Chinese" so perhaps this is what other reviewers were expecting. The food is authentic Chinese, thus when it says a dish is spicy it means chilly hot so much so that half a dish may consist of chillies. When a dish is chicken it is usually chicken with bone (more flavoursome), when it says fish it is fish with bone (also more flavoursome) etc, etc.....! We decided to try Wonder Meals as we were big fans of the same restaurant when it was the Dumpling House. The restaurant interior has obviously been upgraded since changing management and looks a lot better, just a little bit camp with the fake flowers linking the roof skirtings. The service was great. Our server was friendly, made recommendations and asked for feedback at the end. We ordered the spring rolls, BBQ pork buns for entree and it was delicious. The Chicken and sweet corn soup had SO much sugar in it that it was inedible. The Waitress said it was because the corn was sweet. Hmm. Never, ever had soup like it. It was also not very warm. Spring Roll, cold and tasteless besides the fat. Even the chinese tea was terrible. The other dishes we had were very salty and i suspect, had a lot of MSG and tickener in the sauces. I can only say i enjoyed the broccoli and snow pea dish and the water! I would NEVER go there again. I bought an icecream of the way home to get the taste of the food out of my mouth.

The food was very good, went with my sister and parents. It is a little pricey compared to other Chinese restaurants but the servings were big and there was plenty of left overs because we were full! The menu was extensive, however many dishes may be a little exotic for those not accustomed to them (chicken hearts etc.) Would probably return as what we had was good and the front of house were very good.
You can usually tell a good Asian restaurant by its fried rice but this is the opposite with this place.I have never tasted a more disgusting fried rice in all my life(I'm 57 ).the sweet and sour pork was tough and was over powering in taste.The honey prawns were under cooked and soggy.It was so over priced .We will never go back !!!!
I can inderstand that people may not enjoy this food as its a lot different to the usual Chinese menu in Canberra. However, if you enjoy proper authentic regional chinese cuisine then I truly could not reccomend a better restaurant in Canberra. brings back a lot of fond memories.
Take an hour for serving food, bad management ever that I seen hospitality industry. If they short staff it should hiring more staffs rather than taking a risk running a business. Food taste sweet not authentic. Very disappointed, never visit again.

We have waited nearly an hour after ordering. All other tables got their meal as we ordered at the same time. After an hour our first two dishes came and another two dishes never showed up. Extremely disappointed! Won't come again that's for sure.
Delicious. The meat in my beef soup was melt in your mouth tender. The fried pancakes were delightful. Lots of lovely flavours in each of the dishes. Nice service. We shall return!
