Yagi is an intimate sushi restaurant located in an unassuming shopping center, anchored by Big Lots. Finding parking will not be an issue. The minimalist blond wood interior and soft jazz music was a welcome respite from the oppressive heat outside. Service is attentive; our friendly waitress displayed a ready knowledge of the intricacies of the menu. This is the best sushi restaurant in North Orange County. My wife and I have been eating here for many years now. We enjoy conversing (in nihongo/Japanese language) with the Japanese staff and chefs. We met two of our best friends (from Japan) here. The sushi selection is far beyond what regular sushi restaurants serve. The fish is fresh and delicious and served in an eye pleasing manner. Best omakase I've ever had. We went on a Sunday right before dinner when it wasn't very busy, so the service was great. Food was so fantastic that I'm still thinking about the flavors over half a week later. $65 for 11 pieces but everything is so so good. Every piece of fish was thoughtfully flavored in a way that brought out the qualities of the fish. Most of them were already sauced in some ponzu and other sauces, not needing any soy, and the rice flavored with vinegar and wasabi was tasty--I normally don't like wasabi but it was good. The happy hour is such great value!! 2-5pm really good prices. We showed up at like 4:55 and they still honored the happy hour prices since I ordered right when we got there. Super friendly staff. Have gotten takeout chirashi bowl and rolls before and that was also really yummy. Next I want to try omakase

The sushi are good but the rolls are meh. Shrimp tempuras charge for $14 but they taste generic in a bad way. I?d recommend to get sashimi there instead of rolls. Great servers though. My review is only based on the food quality.
