Yakitori 39 - Réserver une table

This is a unique restaurant with many spits and small dishes. There are a variety of products offered, pork, beef, chicken, seafood and vegetarian items. The menu is really long, distributed on 3 different, more than 8 pages. The restaurant is quite small and old. From what I know they do not allow to go, it is only after reservation. The kitchen is right next to the tables, so feel and smell the heat and smoke of the grill. There are terms of food, I had a mix experience, some things were really good, like chicken liver, heart, scallops, but some others were okay, like the Onigiri Rice ball, fried baby octopus. Try lobster yaki. No lobster yaki. Instead grille beef also very good. Momo, sunagimo, seseri, teba, kawa... all chicken regular and specialty great. Those $4~5 skewers add up. Pork belly, Gyutan also great. Drinks.. Matcha beer, cold and hot sake reliable. Highball not so much. When soda was hot, readily replaced (gave another) with colder soda. Service is great. Sacho disciplines/trains servers well. Authentic Japanese style. Thank God this place in Teaneck. Otherwise, have to make a trip out to Manhattan.. Yakitori Totto, Torishin, Hagi... Koreans can only flock... popularity of Matsuda-san from 544 (Osaka residents) craves for yakimono. Arigato gozaimasu. KANPAI.

We had too high expectations from the good reviews and got disappointed big time.. Food was ok but expensive for the quality portion. The place was very dirty. Food drops on the floor, sticky table, dirty plates... Also we were not sure they had the same Sprite we knew. It tasted plain even after they gave us a new one. Lastly the servers were kind but did not understand the menu availability. It felt like we were ordering something they didnt know.. Parking: It was very difficult to find a street parking near the place. Then we found a free public parking lot just a 1 block down.

Food and the vibe is great, but the restaurant is usually very busy and hence slow service. And the place desperately needs better ventilation. It is so smokey that my eyes were hurting towards the end of the meal. Food: 5 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 4

Poor service. At 9:20 they said they were closing at 10:30 and will not be serving anyone else today. At least there’s another sushi restaurant around here that will be serving 1/2 before closing. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

The food is absolutely delicious and brings back memories of Kyoto. The yakitoris are simple but fresh and taste just the way we like them. We will definitely return to try the sukiyaki in the winter!

Please revise your hours of operation. Your website states that you close at 10 PM, but your doors were already locked at 9:40 PM. This was quite disappointing.

The food was good, and the service was decent. It's a small restaurant. Overall, I would rate the food a 5, the service a 3, and the atmosphere also a 3.
