Zachs Plaice - Réservation de table

Came here whilst visiting Newport to pick something up we purchased off tinternet. OK, so the decor is basic and that of a greasy spoon, however, however.....the lady cooking the fish was mega friendly and made us chuckle when we heard her say to a group of guys ordering slow down, have you got a girlfriend (guy answers no), she responds it 's no wonder PMSL! the girl serving was super friendly and smiled loads to make sure she got our order right. Place is very, very clean and you can tell its well looked after. We had the cod and it was so fresh and the batter was gorgeous!!! Will definitely be coming here again!

Served rancid mushy peas…. As in sour…. Gone off!! That would have been bad enough if it was on a separate pot but it was all over my meal so the whole lot went in the bin! Which leads me to believe that either things aren’t being dated correctly in the fridges, the fridges aren’t at the correct temperature or food is being left out too long! Either way I absolutely will NOT be returning!!

Best Chippy in the town and for miles around. Haven't had a meal inside since lock down but returned the other night and had a fish and chip takeaway. Large fish with crispy batter and the chips were excellent, served by very friendly staff. Tip always ask for batter bits delish Only downside, never have a pie! Always warmed cooked in the microwave on ordering. Can do that at home guts :

Took a detour here to get fish and chips at lunch time. As we had such lovely chips a few weeks ago from here. Well today oh gosh it was unacceptable. Chips were mush. Fish was that rubbery it’s like had been cooked and warmed several times. Even my cat didn’t eat it. I will NOT be using here again. Thank you for wasting my £10. Réservez une table maintenant

If you 're after 3-star Michelin dining this is not the place for you! Zach 's is your typical local fish 'n chips outlet that delivers what it says on the tin, no more and no less. When in town and looking for a cheap 'n cheerful lunch or dinner, this is the plaice (pun intended) to go.

The chips are soggy and greasy with loads of salt and vinegar on. My wife loves them (so do I). And, before lockdown you could sit down with a pie and chips and a can of Carling on a Sunday evening. It should make you feel depressed but it doesn't.

Great fish and chip shop, best in the area by far. The cod was pure white flakes and the batter was deliciously crisp. Chips were so fresh and tasty. Service in the shop is always outstanding and friendly. Couldn't ask for more!

Friendly staff but the chips were not cooked enough so they were soggy and pale coloured. I prefer chips to be cooked so they are golden and lightly crisp. Réservez une table maintenant

Don't eat late here, fish was not fresh and we suffered the next day. Plus we had a small fish and chips and paid £10!!

No nonsense fish and chips , good portions, nice and hot, reasonably priced, friendly staff, what’s not to like
