We were in the Cenon area at lunch time and the nearest interesting looking restaurant in the Michelin red guide was Ze Rock.It was described as traditional which doesn't do it justice, as in the Gironde this usually refers to "duck, duck and steak" restaurants. However, if by traditional they meant great food like France used to be known for, then this is it.Quirky and modern (Stark chairs) bright interior, with a large terrace in a park is a great setting for a restaurant, and the place was full, which it well deserves.I had the €16 lunch menu which was faultless .. a great gazpacho with interesting garnishes, and then melt-in-the mouth lacquered ribs with mash, and a good Rose de Provence to go with a sunny 30C summer day (rare so far this year) made it perfect. My wife had a cannelloni of carpaccio around a julienne of vegetables (very creative) and salmon which she gave several thumbs up. I can't comment on desserts as we both passed. We kept talking about the meal for the rest of the afternoon. We will definitely go back.

My wife and I just experienced possibly the best meal of our 5 week European stay!We had a 3-course meal for 19 Euros each and between us shared the pumpkin soup/wok-fried chicken for entree, we both had the veal for the main course, and the shared pear/bread and butter pudding for dessert. The veal was FANTASTIC! The entrees were really, really good, and the bread and butter pudding was divine, but the veal was in a class of its own. If you have the opportunity to do so, please, please try the veal - you won't be disappointed! The waiters spoke many different languages (I asked them if they spoke Russian and they said no - but then, as I only speak English it was only to see what their limits were :)...). Great atmosphere, wonderful background music, and I would go back there again. For the waiters - thank you so much for your excellent service and fantastic humour; for your chefs - the food was brilliant!

We had dinner here twice during a week in the beginning of July and it was a surprise. Housed in an old factory, the decor is clean and not without style. A large patio is used in warm evenings where you can enjoy your meal overlooking the beautiful garden and the Garonne river in the distance. Ze Rock is a crossing between a gourmet(ish) restaurant and a bistro. And sure enough - it is the annex of the Michelin-starred restaurant "La Cape" in Cenon. There is obvious knowledge in the kitchen. Dishes are simple with a concentration on quality. Good selection (moderate number of courses) on the menu and on the wine chart. Very moderate prices - very affordable. Recommended.

Popped in for dinner on a Sunday evening. Restaurant was quiet, but staff were very friendly, once we used a few words of French. Food was very good, but may not suit evryones palet. Not the cheapest place, but we enjoyed it. Would I go again? If in the area yes, but wouldn't detour for it. If you are in Cenon give it a go
