Been quite a few times( from the times where they used to stock castle milk stout etc) and hadn't ventured for close to half a year. Ambiance is still good but... our waitress who seemed Scandinavian was lost and all over the shop.... and referred to the monkey gland sauce as having ' vegetables and stuff'... wonderful start to our dining experience.we ordered boerewors to start which wasn't bad. Went with friends to Zebras on Saturday night. Had a drink at the outside bar before heading in to dinner.The beer and wine selection was minimal, with the first few wine selections being unavailable and third selection the staff member had to check stockStaff friendly and polite.A fairly large restaurant with probably 30 tables or so. Probably a third full the night we went We had the tasting plate which was good but could have had a bit more on it for the price ( staff did tell us how many pieces we'd get and they were spot on). We used to be regulars here with groups of up to 20 about because the food was amazing! It suddenly went downhill due to a chef change so we didn't visit for a while. Went back last night and couldn't have been more disappointed. The place used to be bustling on a Friday night and was virtually empty, the food came out undercooked, the menu selection was lacking and didn't have the favourite touches from days gone by. We found it overpriced and the food was unappealing but have to say the service was BRILLIANT! Our waitress was wonderful and the warmth and coziness of the outside bar was great. It's such a shame the interior now lacks the warmth it once had and the food just isn't worth it....
Friends recommended this place to us and so pleased it is very local as we will be going back regularly! I have never had a steak that melted in my mouth as the steak I had this evening! Mind you there were 9 of us and everyone felt the same about their menu choices! Didn't really need dessert but you know how it is and sometimes you simply can't refuse! Very pleased I didn't deny myself dessert as had the date pudding and it was delicious! Staff lovely and so friendly and accommodating too! A pre-dinner drink at the outdoor bar before beeing seated at a table cor two. What a start to a beautiful meal with my beaitiful wife. Gerald the owner welcomed us and explained the menu selection which also included a special three course meal for Valentines Day.We chose the Valengines special and came away thoroughly satisfied. Tasty and a delicious opportunity to taste some special African quisine.
We had an absolutely delicious meal on Saturday night. Our group (of 13) ordered everything from steak to the Kenge beef curry to the game tasting plate and everyone LOVED their meals. All dishes came out at the same time which generally doesn't happen with our large, family group. Thanks so much for the lovely evening. We will definitely be back.
This establishment is friendly and relaxed. The food and beverages are very good and the decor is very well done.Reasonable prices for good quality food. We attended with two young children and staff were very helpful and accommodating.This place is definitely worth a visit as you wont be disappointed.
