Zee Grill is a comfortable well established seafood place on Mt. Pleasant. The menu has a great selection of seafood dishes and a few non seafood items. Oysters are fresh and you can sit at the bar and watch them being shucked. I enjoyed the mussels which were done in a delicious white wine broth. My scallops were done to perfection. Good wine list. There is a patio in the back which looked nice for a warm evening. Service was really good and the staffs friendliness is genuine. I plan to return to try some of the other seafood dishes.
Zee Grill is the type of place I have walked by for many years as there are no windows to the street and a rather innocuous sign, "Phoebes Zee Grill"- What a mistake! Although the decor is very understated the busy kitchen in the front of the restaurant produces the most delicious approachable food. Everything on the menu is delicious and meticulously prepared. We had the Zee Salad, the moules, steak frites , the duck and the sticky toffee pudding and all were fabulous. A fabulous place for a low key delicious meal.
Zee Grill is a perennial favourite. Whether enjoying oysters (they carry many different farms, including from PEI and Massachusetts.), the appetizers (the cone of fries with aoli and the crab cakes are delicious) or the entrees (always a fresh fish special) you will be delighted. The desserts are made in house. The lemon ice cream bar - comprised of meringue cookies surrounding homemade lemon ice cream- is the perfect blend of sweet and tart to finish a meal.
Went to Zee Grill last night with friends that live nearby. We had oysters for starters after some guidance from Riaan. It was fantastic! Fish of the day was halibut which was very well prepared and the chocolate cake topped off a great evening out. Had such a great time - will definitely recommend!
