Funky gem for the pre, during and post drinking tummy workoutThis funky little bar is tucked away upstairs from the Oriental teahouse on Chapel st. You'd seriously miss it if you weren't looking.... This place has pretty much the same menu as the Oriental tea house and that's because they share a kitchen. What makes it stand out a little more for me is the cosy bar vibe, the personable staff and the few menu additions like the chicken ribs and beer combo $15 bargain! !.... these crispy salt and pepper morsles are very moorish but make sure it's a naughty day because they are not for those watching their weight....it was the alcohols fault, right?? My favourites were the salt and pepper tofu,...
Nice small venue hidden up the top of Oriental Tea house. Been a couple of times on a Wednesday for their $1 dumplings. Pork or Veg. They're fantastic, super delicious! Also had the salt and pepper tofu and veggie spring rolls.. couldn't fault them. Drinks were good, get there before 7 for happy hour prices. Also had a cosmo which was nice, bartender was friendly and quick. Would just recommend some more variety with the cocktails that are available as jugs. Settled on the blood orange jug with the recommendation of the bartender but it was pretty average, I think they could have some more appealing Ines to add to the list. Nice vibe, fantastic live music. Will definitely be back to try more...
The happiest happy hour can be found at Zhou Zhou, where hawker street delights make me incredibly happy. The 1930's opium den-inspired interiors are adorned with vintage Chinese girl posters, creating a unique atmosphere. Enjoy killer cocktails under the glow of paper lanterns and other eclectic decor while grazing on a variety of menu items. I sipped on an Aloe Vera cocktail made with gin, mint, and aloe vera before diving into dishes like ginger prawn dumplings, authentic prawn dumplings, spring rolls, rice paper rolls, and salt and pepper calamari - all perfect for sharing. We left satisfied and full after enjoying a delicious meal together.
We dined at Zhou Zhou on a Thursday afternoon around 2pm, and were pleased to find that the kitchen was still open. Everything we ordered was delicious, starting with the fantastic dumplings. We then tried the steak and chicken dishes with rice, and they were all amazing! The restaurant was quiet at that time of day, and the service was great. The food quality, quantity, and price were all excellent, and we highly recommend this place. We will definitely be returning in the future. Went upstairs to the bar on a Saturday night for a late dinner. Seated straight away and menu at the bar was the same as the restaurant section. The food was ready in no time and was excellent quality. Only thing stopping me from rating 5 is probably the price factor. Great service and friendly staff. Flavourful food and would definitely come again.
The bar at Oriental Tea House on Chapel Street is truly fantastic. The cozy and cheerful interior makes for a great atmosphere. There is a wide selection of amazing drinks to choose from. A special thanks to Aidan, the event manager, for being very pleasant and helpful in showing us around and assisting us in choosing a venue for our function.
The music was great, $1 dumplings good value as was the happy hour. The food is just ok (same as orientalist teahouse) but the setting is nice and intimate. The girl who was waiting upstairs was so lovely and worked so hard she is the reason why we would come back well done!
