Zoo Restaurants

This restaurant sits essentially along the wall of the Basler Zoo, which means that you can enter from inside and outside the zoo (but not into the zoo or leave the zoo through it. There are separate sections). The inner part is cafeteria style, big and open,...and often as loud as the monkey house sorry. There is a large terrace outside for seating in good weather. This restaurant obviously offers the zoo visitors. The food is good, though not gourmet, but well cooked and with sufficient portions. The outer restaurant is much smaller and more stylish and offers good quality dishes. We held the annual club dinner there and were all very satisfied with the food and service. The prices for Switzerland were not too bad... but definitely much more expensive than at home, but that literally comes with the area for an unexplained reason. Would go back there, there was absolutely nothing to want.

Many animals including young animals. They seem to be successful in the breeding program. There was also evidence that the staff ensured that they had a lot to do, e.g. puzzles to remove food. I felt the animals were well cared for in the zoo.

The zoo is big and beautiful but its restaurant is not special. Salad choice is small and no international cuisine...

Excellent well prepared food that was not that expensive given the fact that we were captive in the zoo!
