"If you like me, you are in the German kitchen, this place will make sure. The food is really good and shamelessly cheap. We both got away with 35 euros for a whole dinner. It is a very grounded place with a beautiful and cozy atmosphere. Recommended."

My wife and I went Zum Blauen Engel on date night early October. To start with, all the inside tables were reserved, due to some event. We still wanted to try the place out though, so we sat in the corridor area, which is also...an enclosed space, but by the open door, which at this time of year is already slightly chilly. The service was very friendly and the food was pretty good as well, but I think the atmosphere just wasn 't what we were looking for. Maybe we 'll try it again sometime though, when there 's room inside.

I have past the Blue Angel many time, never tempted to walk in; at first glimpse, it doesn't look appealing, but the first impression is wrong. It's a very nice, old school, German restaurant with an excellent choice of dishes; more choices than most Celler...restaurants. And much more affordable too. But what counts is taste. Taste and gastwirdschaft is King at this restaurant. I will be back for more, I can only endorse you to check out for yourself.

If you're not seated by 7:15 here odds are you won't get a table this place fills up quickly. The service is very good and each of the food dishes that we tried were good to very good. Since the bar is attached and...right next door, you do get some smoke lingering over into the dining area, but not enough to damage the experience of eating there. Try the schnitzel, you'll be glad you did but avoid the toast Hawaii, it's not their best dish.

It is hard to arrange this restaurant because of its heights and depths. On the one hand it has some of the most tasty roast potatoes I tasted, but the meat was shed (my Hubby asked for seldom and got medium well, and I asked for medium...similar and was well made). The staff is very friendly, but on the other hand I asked for a dry riesling, but got a medium dry. So the word that comes in mind... You have to work on the details.
