Very disappointed in the menu and maybe the lowest quality meal we had during our week at Chiemsee.The restaurant caters to big tourist groups and is simply too big to provide quality food and / or good service.We started with the local lake fish ("Renee"), a typically very tasty fish with similar attributes to a trout but this was dry and tasteless. We had a second dish with the same fish, this time raw as "matjes", a bit better but still underwhelming. The local mushrooms ("Pfifferlinge"), advertised as special, were covered in a thick sauce and came with a big "Knoedel" (???), you could count the actual number of mushrooms on two hands. We stopped here for a late lunch. We were the only customers who opted to eat inside but the outdoor seating was full. Little too much sun outside for us. We were treated like special guests, given a menu which was mostly in German but the waiter explained and helped us choose our meal. My husband and I both had the fresh fish. It came with potatoes and a salad. We also had soup which came with bread. Our grandson didn't really see anything on the menu that he wanted so we asked if they had sausage. On a business trip and meeting st the Yatch hotel. Which is s 15-20 min walk in the dark but quite nice to get out after a day of meetings. The Restaurant us authentic Bavarian feel, friendly good English speaking staff. I can highly recommend the mussels to start followed by the Sirloin steak (huck steak) it aged, tender and perfectly cooked with sauté potatoes extra mushrooms and 3 dipping sauces. Medium rare superb ! Good selection of red wines and if you dare a collection of snapps and disputes ! enjoyable evening . Probably need to book and take comfortable shoes !!
We came here yesterday for dinner. I had a fish plate as an appetizer and deer specialty as a main course. It was incredibly exquisite and delicious. Highly recommend it. I hope the picture is at least making you curious. Good choice for fresh fish lovers.Unfortunately, English menu was not updated with all the dishes, so it was quite difficult to follow the entire complex menu only in German. 20 minutes walk from the port, a nice restaurant with lake view from its terrase at quiet location.We have been there for lunch (terrase) and dinner (inside).The selection of fish is the best in the city. You can choose either from the menu or fingerpointing the fresh whole lake fish from the icy tray. I took local beer, my wife took a glass of the perfect local white vine.
A good option.I visited Zum Fischer am See with a friend for lunch. We ordered 2 plates of local fish and seasonal vegetables, beers and coffee and we spent 25 euro each. A very reasonable price considering that the fish was fresh and delicious and the vegetables topped with plenty of sauce. In a sunny day sit outside and enjoy the lake side.
We ate here as a large group and were not disappointed - there is an excellent selection of different food and even though it is a fish restaurant, there are meat and non-meat options and some Bavarian specialities. Portions are of a good size and there is an extensive wine menu. Ask to see the schnapps collection - the bottles are enormous!
