Zum Stahl - Réserver une table

Gasthaus zum Stahl has a great outdoor seating area, but you need to reserve in advance, this place is popular! There is also a self-service area on one side of this outdoor area where you can usually find a place for sitting and ordering the counter. Not a quick snack, but in that direction, I guess. Anyway, we were served by the Gasthaus staff. No problems with all service was fast and accurate and the food was very good. The prices seemed typical for the region. The menu was extensive and had many of the regional favorites, but also some other continental dishes. Recommended.

We recently spend two weeks in Freiburg and on our first night we found this restaurant/beer garden just a few minutes from our apartment. How convenient, we thought! We sat outside in the beer garden on the service side . But there was no service! Three...waiters stood at the door but paid no attention. It took us more than 30 minutes to order a beer. I asked for the menu but did not get any. So we left the place hungry! We didn 't return. Fortunately there are many nice places to eat in Freiburg where you really get som service!

We used to go to this restaurant quite often but not anymore. When we visited this month it was simply disappointing. The service was terrible, (slow rude, and so was the food. Very high prices, very low quality. Their only vegetarian option are two...boring pasta dishes. The fish I had was dry, cold and tasteless, the potatoes with herbes are a joke (super tiny portion, no herbes, no spices etc . I could go on about the other dishes that we had but to summerize: DON'T VISIT THIS PLACE. Incredibly over-prized, below average food.

Went midweek for lunch with friends and their family and all 6 of us were satisfied with what we had ordered. My pumpkin pancake with mushroom filling was delicious. There was only one waitress on the ground, but she did a good job... all customers. Would like to return on a summer day if we can sit outside. There were enough parking spaces on the street that have a great advantage in Freiburg

We were a large group of about 30 for dinner outside in the beer garden, the self-service for drinks with food we had ordered delivered to our table. The food was average and typical German and at the prices we paid very good...for money.
