Hungry and on the road to Berlin on a holiday weekend? And most of the restaurants closed because of low business expectations due to the long weekend in an industrial town: this was our dilemma until a person at an intersection suggested the Starenkasten, the Starlings' nest and birdhouse. Located not too far from the Autobahn yet on the outskirts of Braunschweig, we almost passed by the unassuming hotel and restaurant.However, once we stepped through the door, we were warmly welcomed and seated in a manner reminding us from the good old times, though music and personnel definitely were of our days.
