Absolutely beautiful restaurant in a beautiful part of the world. It's french with an asian twist, really fabulous food. This is definitely a fine-dining restaurant so be prepared for high quality and high prices, but it's well worth it. Went with friends, a very enjoyable time. My friends had been visiting this restaurant for years as a treat every summer, but it was the first time for me and it didn't disappoint. I had the fillet of beef (the least asian thing on the menu, since I didn't think I could handle spicy that day. and it was gorgeous. We heard the restaurant is closing down, and this is it's final summer after 25 years. gutted! So I've booked to take my parents there next week. Go if you can!

Always a pleasure to dine inside or out. Excellent service and food: The pear and Chantelle cream desert is divine.

We were pleasanty welcomed and impressed by the menu but the food fix 't live up to expectations. The lamb shank was tasteless and very tough and full of sinuses. We made our complaint to a waitress but nothing was done about our complaint. We certainly won't return.

Just a little way off the bustling waterfront of Ars-en-Re, it is beautifully set for a peaceful, high quality meal - indoors or in the shade of parasols and olive trees in the garden. We visited on a very warm day but there was sufficient shade in the garden for the four of us to feel very comfortable over a leisurely lunch..The staff were very welcoming, cheerful, efficient and helpful. For starters we had: prawns, pata negra ham and rocket salad; lentils and haddock; green papaya salad Vietnamese-style (spicy) and, herings with a light curry sauce. Main courses were: maigre (a firm yet tender white fish) with confit shallots and their own take on saute potatoes; lamb shank with Moroccan spices, prunes and cons-cous; fillet steak; and, monkfish with clams and roast mango. Desserts were limited to coque gourmand (chocolate ball containing cream and raspberry coulis - shared by two), ice cream and coffee.Presentation was lovely, colours vibrant and complimenting tastes and textures. If there were (small) disappointments, they were that the Moroccan spices were overwhelmed by the sweetness of the prunes for the lamb dish and the ice cream was not home-made - probably Carte-D'Or judging by the plate on which they were served. Nothing wrong with them but we expected better. We had aperitifs and a bottle of chardonnay from the Ile-de-Re. Not knowing what to expect (our server recommended it), we were very pleasantly surprised by it and enjoyed it. Not a heavy chardonnay but fresh and no hint of oak; it was just right on a hot day with the different types of dishes and flavours we had chosen.Le Grenier de Sel is not cheap - our bill came to 200€. However, we considered that not inappropriate for the quality of food, service and environment we enjoyed. There are times for burger and chips among the crowds but if you want lunch to be an occasion in lovely surroundings, come here.

Great court yard and very deceiving from the side road you have to go down to find it. Loved everything! Very strong Asian flavours mixed with French and fabulous produce. Will go every time I return to Ars en re, which is every year.

Most of the dishes are neither here nor there: Asian infused but quite tasteless. For example, the Tom Yang Gung was a broth with no spices and two shrimps. By comparison, prices are steep. Part of the attraction is garden seating - we were seated outside at the road, and not told when booking. Location is out of the way, not worth visiting.

We are regular visitors to the Ile de re and have regularly eaten at the grain de sel. Not again however after tonight. The last time we ate here was 2015 and felt it was not as fresh or attentive same menu etc.But thought we'd give it another try tonight. We booked and upon arrival ordered. The service was a bit erratic not the normal attentive service. The decor and menu unchanged although no specials board perhaps were signs. My wife order the Thai salad and my daughter the soup de Gambas which she has always really enjoyed - it was not as good and my wife's starter was completely bland with no invention ,which we had enjoyed previously. The main courses:Boeuf I had always enjoyed. A quality piece of tender steak, this was simply inedible, one chunk of gristle could simply not be chewed or digested. My wife and daughter ordered tagliatelle, which read well but was simply awful, again left both meals.Upon collection of plates I made the point that the steak was inedible and pointed to the chunk of gristle and explained it was the quality of produce. Whilst the starters and other mains were poor chef and cooking.None of these dishes should have been served.I was not looking for any reduction in the bill £128, but honestly to charge for this effort is wrong. So paid and left and put it down to experience. But I expect this restaurant to close very soon.We left and sadly won't be back.By far the worst meals in memory, whilst having the nerve to charge premium price. The managers was not in the restaurant when we left. But we have always been welcomed and impressed. You really must improve.Nous sommes des visit

A longstanding favourite but all it takes is a few langoustines that are less than ideal an it can ruin the whole night and next day. The food is highly creative but the menu doesn't change very often. It's highly creative and beautifully presented, especially if the weather permits dining in the garden. A good rule of thumb as a traveller is to avoid shell fish in the Summer. But do try this off the beaten track culinary outpost.
