Been here before but this time its less busy. Beautiful evening by the lake, sun still shining at 8 o clock!! Lovely outside area, indoor restaurant too but no-ones using it.If your french isn't good, the waiters speak perfect English so no worries. This place is on the banks of 'Lac de Mondon and its a lovely spot.

Stumbled upon this lovely lake side setting whilst travelling around France intending to stay for a night and ended up staying for a week! The campsite and restaurant are run by the English owner and a lot of the food and drinks are imported from the UK. English bottled beer, lovely fish in batter and ice cream come to mind. The quality is superb and at a reasonable price. Fish and chips on a Thursday night are very popular with the ex pat community and tourists alike. There is a very good pool, and children can be safely left there under the watchful eye of a couple of lifeguards whilst you have a beer.Well worth a visit and a fantastic setting by the lakeside. The only downside is the service, this is under terrific pressure when busy.

The food when you get it is very good, however the customer care and service is possible the worst in France and that is no mean achievement. The waiting staff were smoking and seemed to be trained to 'look' everywhere except where the customers were. As I live very near and they sell a drink that is very hard to find in France I do go there quite often, but the service only seems to get worse. Maybe the management should invest in some training for the staff and themselves.

We went tonight because it was the fish and chips menu night. The fish was exceptional, moist, pure white and flakey coated in a great beer batter.

After a long day en-route to the south of France we decided to turn off the motorway to find a B & B (https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/VacationRentalReview-g187159-d9789800-L_Hermitage_Luxury_B_B-Limoges_Haute_Vienne_Limousin.html) for the night and somewhere to eat. After researching Tripadvisor we choose Le Repos because fish and chips and a good steak were in order. We were not disappointed, the food and service were excellent and an added bonus was being able to wash it down with a bottle of English beer (Wells Bombardier Bitter). We thoroughly enjoyed our meal which was very good value for money.I highly recommend this restaurant, I promise you won't be disappointed with the food.

French food can be likened to the emperors new clothes - mention it and everyone says how wonderful it is. Yes, high end French food is often excellent, but a significant proportion of everyday French food ranges from mediocre to poor, in my opinion. So much so, that when holidaying in Haute Vienne it became our preference to eat at home, where quality and taste were assured. That was until we found la Repos. Now, I would rarely eat fish and chips in the UK, due to widely varying quality. However, it has become our treat when visiting la Repos. Another beef I have (see what I did there?) is the really awful French steaks served up in many restaurant. And no, I am not insisting on them being cooked to a crisp. It is widely known that hanging beef tenderises it - and the French don't hang it. This makes ordering steaks a lottery. Even in the rare (did it again) case they do, it's not for long enough. Fortunately, if you crave a decent steak in France this is the place, as they are imported from the UK.So, good food, decent prices and all with a lake front setting. Now for the bad news, they close during the winter, so check the website before you visit.

Le Repos is the restaurant on Lac Mondon and we ate here on a couple of occasions as we were staying within walking distance. They serve a very good 3 course ‘Plat de Jour’ for €12, fantastic fish and chips or steak and chicken grills and pizzas for around €9 which are tasty and well cooked. It does get very busy and on one occasion a table was waiting for their meal for a very long time but if you don’t mind the wait when they are busy you get great value simple food with a super view.

We called in here last night and were pleasantly surprised, a basic but honest menu, reasonably priced. Food was well presented, and was well cooked. Deserts were reasonably priced as well. Surroundings are lovely, overlooking the Lac du Mondon. There is a swimming pool adjacent where you can dump the kids and have a beer in Le Repos. Speciality seems to be fish and chips.
