I cycled to Barneville-Carteret as it looks like a nice spot to visit. My initial choice for lunch was Le Cap but for some inexplicable (French) reason their last orders for lunch were 13.45 (take note) which we had missed by 15 minutes.Somewhat disappointedly, my mother and i made our way along the quayside and stopped at the next eatery, Le Russel, thankfully they were serving food. This had a wine bar / bistro kind of feel inside but there were plenty of tables outside as well.Choice wasn't huge but what i had, chicken escalope with french fries and salad was delicious, when a menu is simple it needs to be good and this was.As i'd cycled nigh on 40 miles i did treat myself to a cafe gourmand, if you're not familiar this is an espresso coffee with a selection of small desserts that accompany it, this was also excellent and the helpings of each dessert very generous (see photo).Service was excellent and the bill came in under 50 Euro's for 2 of us, this included 2 mains, 2 desserts, a large beer and a bottle of water, very reasonable in a busy tourist spot i thought. If i go back to Barneville-Carteret then i'll definitely go back there.
