As an Englishman, I can't believe how lucky the French can be: not only do they have their own cuisine, but now they've stolen fish and chips and turned them into an art form! Perfectly cooked cod in beautiful batter served in a paper wrapper (properly hygienic, not like the good old days of newspaper!) with excellent chips and a lovely salad in the heart of France - sacré bleu! I was lucky enough to be able to compliment the chef in person and hope to be able to do the same again soon - well worth the trip.
Truly one of the best meals we have ever eaten. If you're in the area this place is a must! We chose the Bazas beef - it was so full of flavour we could have eaten it for days. The red wine was a show stopper - we were told it was from a local Chateaux. We received great customer service @ Caro & Co. The staff are friendly, informative and extremely patient with non-french speaking tourists! If your looking for a great meal with fabulous customer service, this is the place for you. The view across the square is an added bonus too.
Apart from the odd slip (chips vary in quality) this is a good restaurant in an excellent position on the square. Some imaginative dishes and some surprising favourites like Fish n Chips (in paper).Also very useful as it opens on nights when everything else is closed.Sit outside and watch the world pass by in the square, sit inside in intimacy, sit in the secluded garden and enjoy the warm evenings. So many choices!
The food and service were so tremendous we returned again before leaving Bazas. The plates and cooking all carried exceptional attention to detail, memorable flavor and the service was flawless - attentive but not hovering. Outdoor seating felt intimate and comfortable. The experience made for an enduring memory of our trip.
The place was fantastic (a characteristic square) and the restaurant really very good. The staff has been really very kind and also the chief has been so kind finding out a place for us for eating and especially feed our three babies.The food is very good and of a very good quality. Special tartare, very good also chicken and the desserts.To be recommended also for the price that is correct for the quality given.
