Beaumont-sur-Sarthe is a small, rather sleepy town some way north of Le Mans, but being quite near a north-south motorway it's a useful stopover either at this hotel and or at the attractive municipal campsite a short walk away. This hotel restaurant, right in the centre of town, offers a good range of menus and an extensive wine list to suit most pockets. The decor, service and food are traditional but with some up to date touches. The food is skilfully prepared and well presented, and portions are of decent size. When I ate there, an "amuse-bouche" was served while looking at the menu and another one preceded the starter - a pleasing start to the meal. Eating here is always a good way to start or finish a trip to France if you're continuing further south. The photo shows the main course of my recent dinner there - duck on a skewer.

We have eaten literally all over the world and often wonder why the French think their food is so good. This one was fine, however, and we enjoyed it.

We ate here while staying at the hotel and found the food and wine to be of excellent quality. We ate here twice and would highly recommend it.

Whilst travelling my partner checked out our Logis Directory and discovered this; my partner got a gem. From the moment we arrived to book into the hotel, it was pure quality charm and service throughout. The restaurant gave it all. It really was one of the best experiences both of us have ever had in a restaurant. (And the other great experiences have been in a Logis, and one not too far away from this one). The wine list is superb. Its got some standards and some great wines at reasonable prices for a restaurant mark-up, but its also got some amazing wines. There were also great Whiskies and Brandies. But the menu is wonderful, the food is exceptionally good and the service is so, so, so good! And when I got the bill it was no more than any other restaurant/hotel that would not even come near to such quality and experience. I actually dont want to go into detail and tell you all how good this is, as I may have had a good day when others may get bad day, and quite frankly I would not want the whole world booking in and that meaning I'd miss out, but even if they DO have bad day, I bet its brilliant! This is a first class restaurant.

What a wonderful surprise to find such an excellent restaurant in such an unassuming town. The staff are welcoming, cheerful and efficient, the menu is varied and interesting and the food excellent. I can recommend the Menu Terroir, which we had for lunch. This is (of course) locally sourced, imaginative and delicious, matched with a lovely local wine; unreserved praise!

Do not be put off by the 2 star rating of this Logis Hotel. Travelling through France on Thursday evening on a wet and horrible night, we needed to find a hotel and somewhere to eat. The place looked OK but having had a bad experience in a 3 star Logis, we were apprehensive! As soon as we entered the hotel, we were pleasantly surprised by the warm greeting and cleanliness. We booked a double room and our room comprised 2 rooms and ensuite bathroom which was fully equipped including hairdryer and thick snow white towels etc.The next surprise was the restaurant - we had low expectations but the restaurant was way above average and we had a wonderful meal which rated at least 2 more stars! The wine list was extensive and the prices were excellent. There was also an extensive malt whisky menu. The owner of the establishment was totally charming and attentive and this place is way underestimated on the star ratings. Our only regret? We could not stay another night.

My partner and I ate in this restaurant when we stayed in the hotel for a night. To be honest, we were not expecting much it was a Saturday evening and for a while we were the only customers. However, once we sat down...the evening just kept getting better and better. Our waitress was charming and, from the arrival of the amuse-guile to the very last mouthful of the best creme brûlée I have ever tasted, the meal was a complete delight. This restaurant deserves to be super busy all the time, we will certainly be back.

Slightly dated decor but a large airy room in the local Logis. We came for dessert after a bad meal elsewhere, but the meals we saw others eating looked fine. Dessert was simple but acceptable. Service was fine but it would have been good if...the waitress hadn’t looked so miserable!
