La Palmeraie had only been open for a month when we visited in August. The beautiful yellow stone building is set in well tended grounds and looks extremely inviting. Whilst the outside presents a traditional style building the restaurant interior is very chic and modern with a definite hint of the 70'sThe menu is varied with a choice of set menus plus a la carte. We took advantage of the August offer of a "Planche a partager" for two persons, served with aperitifs. It was so generous that entrees were not required after it!The meals were attractively presented - the maigret of duck, served with dauphinoise potatoes and vegetables, I am told was very good.I chose an entrecote (rib eye) steak and requested no visible blood inside or outside. It looked good but the middle was almost raw. It went back to the kitchen and in the meantime there was a surge of diners, so I did not see my meal again until my husband had finished his, quite a delay, which would be my only criticism. The chips were interestingly served in a cone printed with newspaper.I would visit this restaurant agaiin, although next time would probably order something other than steak, as from experience, few French chefs understand why anyone would want their steak anything other than rare.
