Le Vieux Beffroi Réserver une table

Bethune was very well worth a visit on our way home. And we chose to sit outside at Le Vieux Beffroi (which got very chilly when the sun went away!). However the service was polite and friendly and came in fairly good (when you consider they served 9 of us together). The food was tasty (and my tagliatelle carbonara was really delicious). Good value for money, thank you!

Place to avoid! The staff is very unfriendly but that is not the worst. The place is very dirty, as you prepare to seat down you will have a chance to admirate what the customers have been eating the previous week as well as on the floor carpet!!!. When you take place at the table watch your head when you get up or you'll bump your head onto a big light full of dust which will fall on your over burnt duck or your sandy mussels... you always can try to complain to the waitress or directly to the boss, which we did but then she will get offense and yell on you as you are guilty! After a 10 euros discount on a 100 euros bill for 2 persons she will assure you that the cleaning lady come every Monday to make sure that the place is clean....

The ambience of this bar/brasserie is lovely, very friendly and welcoming. The food was lovely, we had the house red wine (excellent) and the bill was very reasonable. Good service too, I'd recommend it.

Genuine French restaurant (heard no other English, and didn't see a translated menus) which appealed to us. On the edge of the main square, but not too pricey. Large inside and filled up with locals later so good atmosphere. One of our group ordered what he thought was lamb shanks, but turned out to be beef tongue and bone marrow in a hot sauce! Service good, and not pushy.

Many moons ago a friend who was in the catwering industry said to avoid restaurants with too large a menu. This should have been a warning when the restaurant covers its walls with the menu! A very poor meal with associated service. A place to avoid. Wish we had stuck with the hotel on the outskirts which was my choice.

The only restaurant open on a Monday evening In Bethune, but food was excellent and the service was helpful although the Bottle of Chablis was warm and had to be left to chill, but was worth the wait..................

Nous sommes venus pour déguster une bonne bière vers 18h...une seule jeune serveuse se démène autour des quelques tables. Nous espérions qu'un autre serveur sortirait de l'établissement pour prendre notre commande. Personne au bout d'un quart d'heure, nous sommes partis.Quel dommage car la terrasse est attrayante et spacieuse !

Une chance : le seul ouvert le dimanche est plutôt bien. Les plats sont traditionnels et les couples de retraités qui fréquentent la place ont l'air d'apprécier. les moules-frites étaient convenables et le service bien. Atmosphère traditionnelle.Quand même, une ville où tous les restaurants du centre ville sont fermés le dimanche…
