My freinds and I went there for a Friday girls night and we enjoyed a lot! We liked the ston wall inside the restaurant which is warm and nice. The service was quite well too. Since the chef or the suos-chef is a Japonais women so you can find many interesting combinations on the menu, such as sisho, red curry tataki.... and the dishes were delicious. Even more, the desserts were outstanding. On might think you can easily have a decent dessert in any restaurants in Bordeaux since afterall we are in France, the most well known country of pâtissierie, but it's not true. Anyway we were all very satisified by the desserts of this restanuant (we ordered café gourmand). The only thing we did not like is one of the starters " Crispy gambas " which was not crispy enough and the chesse inside the rolls was too stong which covered the flavor of gambas.

Very high quality, fresh fish. We had three different fish dishes and all three were fresh and delicious. Parmesan risotto which accompanied one of the dishes was fantastic, wine list very affordable. On the night we were there (a Saturday) there was only one waiter/busboy for the whole restaurant and he did a better job than 5 guys..fantastic.

L'Encoche (interesting name!) offers high quality food in a beautiful setting. It is located on one of the nicest squares in the historic center. The young manager is very attentive. The menu tends towards the classic and - judging by other reviews - doesn't change very often.

L'Encoche was recommended by our B&B hosts and I am so glad we gave it a try. The restaurant is located just off La Rue de Pas-St-Georges in a beautiful stone-walled medieval building. We both had the salmon and sesame starter which came with a subtle horseradish sauce. My main was an exquisitely cooked rack of lamb and my husband had an equally stunning piece of veal - both came with stir fry vegetables and creamy mash. My dessert of chocolate fondant with speculoos and my husband's praline dacquoise perfectly rounded off the meal. We enoyed a very reasonable bottle of Cote de Nuits Villages and with the excellent cooking, ambience, friendly service, great music and reasonable prices it was a night to treasure.

We had dinner here twice last year and were quite flattered that the owner remembered us. It was fairly busy for Sunday night with almost all English speaking customers. Tge menu is exactly the same as last year. It's a good menu but I think some changes would be welcome. Our salmon and beef carpaccios were excellent and large portions. Mains of monk fish and lamb, perfection. The selection of perfectly cooked vegetables still the best anywhere. Excellent wine at bargain prices. No dessert, again. Still the same attentive, caring service and the same cozy, inviting room. It all works so why change, after all?

We found this restaurant through TripAdvisor and the positive reviews are correct. From the street, it's not impressive but inside it's quietly elegant. We had the lotte and hake. Both were delicious, the lotte was particularly delicious-the best yet. Service was very professional and friendly. We speak French, but English speakers were treated equally. Wines were diverse and somewhat expensive. But we had a superb Pouilly Fume that was a bargain.Altogether a very pleasant experience. If in Bordeaux, don't miss this restaurant!

Really lovely food and gorgeous wines. Friendly waiter who was helpful with English and allergy advice. Would highly recommend.

The restaurant is very well situated in the centre of the historic section, and run by a husband and wife team. Nice room, attentive service and very good food; had the shrimp rolls as a starter, the Rack of Lamb and Steak Frites - all were very good, and nicely presented. Service was good despite only the owner in the front of the room
