We wanted to go because of the chef's reputation as a French masterchef finalist. We weren't disappointed. L'Accolade does a lunch menu at €20 for two courses. Sadly we didn't have time for a leisurely lunch as we had to catch an afternoon ferry, so we skipped the starters and had main course and dessert. My wife had belly pork, I had fish with a risotto. Both were superb. The dessert (no choice) was a pavlova, with a sort of pineapple and apple topping and served with ice cream and a chewy sauce. Quite delicious. We had wine by the glass, excellent coffee (with little gourmandises). Great way to finish a trip to France. What I would really like to do is have a leisurely dinner at this restaurant.

Everything about this dining experience was geared towards customer delight. The welcoming helpful staff, the serving was impeccable, the tapas were deliciously created and served for the ultimate taste pleasure. If you can reserve a table in the garden it is enchanting and beautifully set. We never felt rushed or unhappy with any aspect of this evening. The chef is taking this restaurant to a Michelin star.

I visited the wonderful restaurant named Initial in Caen (a 1* MIchelin) and they owner recommended I have a meal at L'Accolade. I had not heard of this restaurant as I had only recently arrived for a 2 weeks stay, but received a wonderful experience at a dinner with 3 friends. The restaurant is located in the centre of Caen, not far from the castle. While most of the other restaurants in this area seem a bit more touristic, L'Accodade is something really special and not to be missed. The food is excellent and prepared to perfection but also presented in a beautiful way.I ordered a la carte and selected asparagus with ham and a perfectly poached egg with a bernaise sauce as a starter. It was splendid. I followed this with lamb and cannelloni of potatoes with a sauce made from sheep milk and olives. My mouth is watering just remembering the flavours. Finally for the end of the meal I had a kind of deconstructed apple tart (tarte tatin au pomme) with ganache made from beer and one from whiskey. Beautiful presentation and each individual taste was exceptional and blended perfectly. My friends ordered from the very well priced 4 course prix fixe menu and were also delighted with their food. For me great food is always about the sauces. I can find high quality meat and fish but to match it with the sauce is what makes the difference between a good meal and a great meal. This was a great meal and pretty good value for what you are getting. The chef came out to speak with us and was warm and friendly. I really could not have asked for a better experience, from the atmosphere of the room, to the helpful staff to the wonderful food. This restaurant is certainly in the same league at the best 1* restaurants and deserves to be awarded one soon. Three cheers for this restaurant.

Dishes were well presented, but overall taste and experience was between average and good. Although some old vegetables were used in main dish, the quality of the meat hold me back to say good. I missed something extra with the fish starter.

This restaurant is great in terms of quality of food products used for the dishes, the friendliness of the staff and the overall service. As a vegetarian I'm most sensitive about freshness, look and taste of food items used for dishes. In this restaurant this was absolutely more than accomplished. The food was very tasteful, fresh and original! The only minus is maybe the fact that the vegetarian dish was not really very creative, but this is just a very small point regarding the tastiness of this particular dish. A place that I would warmly recommend.

We chose the 35 Euro fixed price meal & were thoroughly impressed with the quality of food & service. The master chef certain prepared a unique dining experience. Despite the high price, the restaurant is one not to miss!
