Conveniently situated by the bridge at Rouffillac, this 'resto' is easy to find. We arrived early for lunch but the sizeable dining room was already packed, a very good sign indeed and we weren't disappointed! We ordered the 'menu de jour' consisting of four tasty courses for 14 euros, including a more-than-adequate Cahors wine: asparagus soup, then parma-like ham and paté salad and followed by a substantial main course of veal raised on the proprietor's farm and served with rice; the sweet of the day was 'ile flottante', decorated meringue floating on home-made 'crème anglaise' or custard if you prefer it spelt out. Fantastic value, the only slight downside being that only one overworked but competent waitress had to deal with a herd of customers, including hungry 'ouvriers' from the local 'routes barrés'. You are expected to use the same plate for three courses - fine, when you get used to the idea. An amazing multi-talented family business with son changing from restauranteur to skilled builder and chateau restorer and the father, 'patron', hotelier, farmer, market gardener, sculptor for the steep after-dinner climb awaiting you behind the restaurant. Good value, super fresh produce but you'll need time for the four courses and a good apetite, 'bon apetit'!
