Okay, here's a great little find in Argentiere. Tete-a-The is just off the main road from Chamonix to the Swiss Border. It serves the most delightful cookies, cakes, quiche, salad, vegetarian burgers and an extensive list of specialist teas. It's small, intimate and the owner is very attentive. I think everything is made here and to order. We loved it, returning four times in our two week holiday because it was so good.Tete-a-The is a small restaurant / informal café in Argentiere. There's a little outside seating consisting of three bistro tables and chairs. Sit outside and enjoy the peace, just below the slopes of the Grand Montets and glacier. On a warm afternoon you'll appreciate the shade. Alternatively, there's half dozen tables inside when it's chilly. The menu is small but delicious. The theme is exclusively vegetarian. Your salad is made to order by the owner and topped off with the best quiche lorraine I have ever tasted. The vegetarian burger is wonderful too. Go too late in the afternoon and the best treats will have disappeared as I suspect the owner runs the business to an ethical set of values, including minimal waste. The owner is friendly, attentive and the presentation and quality of her food is superb. She seems to run the whole place on her own so, if it's a bit busy (that's a relative term due to the small size of Tete-a-The, then she will explain that there will be a delay and you'll need to be patient. But why not, you're on holiday so there's no need to rush and the owner doesn't juggle clients but is open with them on arrival. It's expressed very kindly but you might be taken by surprise - so don't give up but settle down and enjoy.Special mention goes to the loo (singular). Modern and spotless. All dishes are prepared in full view of the customers, prepared to order and in sequence of arrival. Be aware that the menu is limited - the owner does what she does very, very well by focusing upon a small number of vegetarian dishes rather than compromising on quality by offering a greater choice. We spotted this place on TripAdvisor before beginning our holiday in the scenic hamlet of Les Frasserands just above Argentiere. We can honestly say that all of the other reviews are spot-on. Tete-a-The is five stars.Highly recommended.Arianne
