It was a very hot day & we had been turned away by several places where the kitchens had very rigid lunch opening hours. We were therefore grateful to Pfeffel for their flexibility - & also their air conditioning, not that it was hugely strong, but better than nothing. My salad pfeffel involved duck, walnuts & a mayonnaise-y dressing & I liked it. The young man who was our waiter was friendly & efficient

We enjoyed our meals at Restaurant Pfeffel. I had the cuisse canard and it was excellent. Some of these duck and sauerkraut I have ever had. The schnitzel my wife ordered was outstanding! The service was efficient and friendly!

Alsace has many attractive restaurants but the village ones can be a bit rigid about lunch hours - after 2pm was too late for the main places to eat in Thannenkirch and (very pretty) Hunawihr. But there was no problem ordering lunch at Pfeffel at around 2.45. It has an attractive, quiet terrace facing Colmar's interesting Unterlinden art gallery/museum (it's also close to the Hansi museum). But it was a hot day and it was cooler inside next to an open window. The interior is cute Alsatian traditional. We enjoyed our tarte flambee forestier, Salade Pfeffel (with duck), draught Meteor beer, mineral water and espresso. Friendly, efficient service. Bill for two came to a reasonable €34.50.

Service is shocking. 15 minutes before we were even handed a menu and were ignored for another 10 before we could make our order. Staff looked uninterested, unprofessional and were too busy talking to do their jobs. Avoid this place.

Nice restaurant with beautiful terrace. The waiter acted like a comic at first but changed when he noticed we did not appreciate lame jokes. Nice Alsatian food at reasonable prices. Some drinks were very expensive.

Made dinner res early in the day because they were too busy to seat us for lunch when we went there. They didn't have the res when we showed up for dinner even though we saw them write it down, but they seated us anyway. Our main reason for going was so that my husband could eat schnitzel, so he ordered that, and I ordered pork cordo bleu. When our meals came they looked identical, but we never saw our waitress again. Wanted to get what he had ordered. Finally gave up and just ate it. Nice attitude but terrible service. When we finally got our bill, and I told her we got an incorrect entree, she still charged us the price for the wrong dinner which cost more than what we ordered. If the food had been really good, it might have been okay, but my pork was very tough. The sauce was delicious. Don't waste your money.

If the weather is available you may dine outside. We were a big group and everyone was very happy with the dishes. Delicious big portions with reasonable prices. The wine list is also worth to mention. You may taste nearly all wines of Domaine Schoffit with really reasonable prices.

The Alsace is well known for excellent dining. This restaurant therefore was a complete disappointment! I had a so called Alsace menu containing for its main dish typical food i.e. Sauerkraut (lousy, without taste), potatoes (old, disgusting), ham and sausages (fat, tasteless). My wife had ordererd a Suisse sausage salade, usually made with delicious freshly cut Emmenthal cheese. The cheese used for this salad however was a very cheap kind tasting like plastic as you can find it in cheap take away pizzerias. The Riesling we ordered was ok, but very expensive. The "Pfeffel" seems to be a real Tourist trap. We shall go there never again!
