We have eaten here many times as a couple upto a large group. The menu choices are always good and different apart from dessert which is becoming rather predictable, I have eaten my way through that menu several times. My one concern on my last two visits is the waiting. Everything seemed so slow. Starters took about 25 minutes to arrive and our main course over an hour. I know it is all freshly cooked but none of the main courses take long to cook, they are all good cuts of meat. I don't know why this is the case, other friends have also mentioned the waiting. For my liking it's just a bit too long. Everything else is great!

Our second visit here in the last year. Cannot recommend it enough! Amazing food - probably the best restaurant around and in fact, probably one of the best we've ever eaten in! Children aged from 10-13 and enjoyed everything too from the main menu. Service was quick, friendly and very efficient. Perfect place to eat, would thoroughly recommend. Book to avoid being disappointed.

But inside the typical French agricultural building is a bijou restaurant with very appealing ambience run by husband and wife team, and , I assume, one helper in the kitchen - but maybe they do it all themselves! this in quiet Charente countryside, never overrun with tourists, indeed they are rare outside the season. This is a small restaurant (my guess is the barn and cottage were always a single building with two fuctions, quite common for a rural dwelling in SW France.Key is the small menu of the day which, nonetheless, allows considerable choice. Husband is server, very friendly and eager to help make your choices. Not surprisingly there is a time lag before the arrival of the food, though not, of course, the drink. Since we had our daughter Elissa with us who was not drinking and since one of us would be driving home we opted for a carafe of white, which was drinkable but only just. The sole item in the whole lunch which wasn't very good.My wife and I each chose a slab of meat (which we seldom eat at home), I went for beef, Simone for lamb, and we shared anyway. The meat was rare, as requested, very lean and tasty. The portions bordering on over generous in all courses, which all relate to a menu where you can have every course without financial increments. All three of us have eaten around the world, so we are not a push-over.We were just looking for a pleasant family lunch we didn't have to prepare and what we got was far better than that. We'll be back and wouldn't be surprised to be awarding straight 'A' s next time.Stephen Phillips

What an amazing find this was. It was recommended to us by the owner of the gite we were staying in - we would never have known about it otherwise. It is run by husband and wife Rob and Debbie White made us feel so welcome and it has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere The food was outstanding. There was a voice of four starters and four mains and desserts and the cost was 27 Euros for three courses. Each dish was explained to us and it really was one of the best meals I have ever had. I had stuffed courgettes in a tempura batter followed by a succulent lamb dish. My husband had figs with goats cheese and bacon followed by pork with apple and ginger. I can highly recommend. One word of advice, it us cash only which was fine as we had cash with us. Fabulous!
