We left it too late to secure breakfast in our hotel during our recent visit to Bude and upon exploring the town on arrival we walked past Urchins. The breakfast menu looked extensive with choices to suit everyone and we decided that we would eat there the following morning.The tables are well spaced and they are throughly disinfecting tables between each sitting. We sat on a lovely table by the window (good people watching! and didn’t have a long wait for our full English and salmon with scrambled eggs. Very generous portions and we thoroughly enjoyed our breakfasts which set us up for the day, and a 6 mile walk!Urchins do an exciting daytime and evening menu too, and I do believe it’s lice...
We found Urchins by chance today, we had been hiking north of Bude in Devon and had no luck finding a pub for lunch on the way back. Urchins had a great selection of menu to choose from, we three had two soups and a sandwich with cheesy fries. Soups came hot with a choice of bread, mine was butternut and ginger, huge ginger hit, son's was Carrots and cumin, husband a ham and cheese sandwich. Husband's only comment was the fries could have been more crispy with the cheese on top. Staff were friendly, doing their best to deal with the levels of flux of customers and pandemic measures in place. They may want to consider posting a map on how to find the toilet.
Great value, brilliant menu that has all your favourites but also some unusual things if you fancy a change and really friendly atmosphere. The chef gave us tips about how to make his delicious cauliflower and cheese soup and the ploughman’s I had was stunning. Everything is clearly made fresh, even my daughters Macaroni cheese was awesome! We’ll be back!
Been visiting bude many times and now first time this year after the horrible pandemic. We always come to the urchins and couldn’t be more satisfied with the breakfast selections. And just a very nice business with the atmosphere and still cosy and comfortable with the COVID guidelines. Worth visiting and helping out the local businesses. Réservez une table maintenant
We came here for lunch whilst visiting Bude. We called in to book a table, as our daughter was impressed with the vegan options available. Glad we did as the restaurant quickly filled up shortly after we arrived. All four of us agreed that the food was really tasty and will definitely return when next in Bude.
