La Grenouille Réserver une table

After a beautifull walk at apremont sur Alier we enjoyed a Great dinner at this typical place. We never enjoyed a main course of Cuises de grenouille before and we loved it. Price/ quality was excellent

Felt like visiting a french famlily. As the name suggests you should get frog legs here, but we did stuck to an more normal dish. Cow meat, entrecote was a juicy but contained also a lot of fat.

We were two couples from a boat moored nearby. I had read good reviews, so we were looking forward to it. It turned out to be disappointing, generic food with large quantities of frites.

After your visit to the spectacular gardens at Aprémont-sur-Allier, go and have lunch here. It is simple but the food is very good and cancels all the bad ideas you now have about French restaurants (overpriced, microwaved food). The staff are helpful and smiling and the food is cooked on the premises by someone who clearly takes pride in serving a decent meal!

A bit rustic and old fashioned looking, this simple restaurant offers at first a very interesting and varied menu.But the quality of the food is quite desappointing. Personnally, I chose the very classic snails for a starter and a piece pf beef with a nice shallots sauce to follow. It was all I needed and it was very good.My friends were more adventurous with :- the crab pie, quite heavy and no delicate flavours- the poultry with cheese sauce, quite blend.If you eat here, just go for the basics: snails, frog legs, beef or lamb. That what they do best.Keep with apple tart or ice cream for desert.

We'd looked forward to visiting this place since failing to get a table on a visit to Apremont a year ago. Booking well in advance, we were sadly dissapointed. The dining room has a very pleasant, almost rustic atmosphere and the menu's offered a reasonable choice. Unfortunately, the food left a lot to be desired. Al our six starters were vast in quantity but low on quality, the crab tourte being a mushy pink substance in a pastry case. The chicken for the mains was bland and the sauce non descript. The frites accompanying the well cooked but slightly tough chewey steaks were enjoyable. All in all, very average and not somewhere to go out of your way to visit.

Rustic restaurant, excellent food, very reasonable prices, friendly service, family run - exactly what we were looking for on a road trip through the countryside in the middle of France - just outside Nevers - a highlight of our trip!
