While traveling through France on 24.01.2014 our car's GPS guided us to the restaurant which belongs to the hotel Clos-du-Montvinage, aka Val d'Oise. For the very first time in my life I was not able to eat the food on my plate and my colleague and I sent the food back to the kitchen and asked for more bread. So shocked were we by the steak which was rotten, the mustard sauce which was off, the pommes dauphinoises which were tasteless that we did not bother even trying the mushrooms and beans which looked like they had been fished out of the kitchen drain and we did not dare order another dish because our pavé de boeuf with moutarde à l'anciene was so revolting. When the food arrived my colleague actually laughed because the presentation was so poor. Even the bread was stale and the butter was rancid as well. On a positive note: the restaurant area looked very upmarket, the Leffe beer was fine, the service ultrafast (3 minutes between our order and it's arrival) and the owner and waitress were very friendly and polite until we sent the food back and then it was scowls all around and the owner disappeared completely. Later someone told me that you never ever go into an empty restaurant in France; if only we had known beforehand.
