I could not find any restaurants near by my hiking location near the beautiful forests in the region and I was pretty starving. So I decided to drive to Forbach and give it a try. KRO was appealing to me and was 85% full already by 1300. I was pleasantly welcomed and seated on the patio as requested. Excellent customer services and good French cuisine. Staff friendly and very efficient. I met two great gentlemen at the near table and enjoyed a positive refreshing discussion about our wonderful 4 legs creatures.. I had a really great lunch with a happy atmosphere.
Now, of course I cannot force all restaurants in France to speak english or have english menus. But when you put a big "tripadvisor recommended" sticker on your entrance door it commits. Trip- implies "travelling, tourism". And not even the French, in 2017, can expect all tourist to be french speaking? They're situated less than 5 minutes from the german border, and not even a german menu to get. The waitress was polite and friendly enough, but no english at all. English is already my 2nd language, but luckily I do speak a little german so we managed to order without using the menu. I ordered a medium beef, it turned out to be medium rare and borderline cold inside. I ate less than a third before I had to give up. My wife tried to explain to the waitress in english (she wanted to complain while I was more passive) and the beef was cut in half blood red open to see. But no follow up from the waitress. Maybe because of language barrier.
I reviewed the reviews and didn't know what to expect. As others have said this is causal dining. It is prepared in house and is very good with very good service. We were there during an eightieth birthday party and quickly became part of the party. We had a very good time and were never made to feel at a loss. American Hubby had no problems.
Although recommended by the hotel landlady, this was not really a special place. It might be that in Forbach there are no special places, and this was just an average restaurant. Food was ok, but nothing special. Not everything seems to be prepared fresh, and the prices appear relatively high for the quality.
we have eaten yesterday, friendly reception, nice service, the cook came 2 times on the table to ask if everything is desired for us, so that the beginning to eat now and drink we had made as an appetizer deenleber pastete and frog legs really great. as a main dish a derecote rose (which was also) and an salad with seafood, as delicious as in the amount. my desire to take a part of the frogbon for my vater was happy to be fulfilled, so that the older herr can remember again as the taste. as after dinner had my well-known 2 balls pistachioseis, also very tasty.
