We were in Gruissan for an overnight stopover in early October. The town was quieter than expected and there were few restaurant options open. La Croisette, situated beside the harbour, was the only place open with any activity so we went there. By looks and location, it could be any of hundreds of seaside restaurants. The menu is extensive with a multitude of choices. In short, a generic place. We had a salad, mussels in fish broth and a whole sea bream figuring that local items would be better. And they were. The salad was good, the mussels were among the best ever and the whole fish was properly done and excellent. The prices were fair. There were some smokers near our table and the wind blowing in our direction made us move. It made us appreciate how much the French attitude to smoking has changed.Service was very good and it was pleasant to eat outdoors on a cool night next to the harbour. This is a place you might not normally consider, but if you were there, you should not overlook it.
