Come here for the genuine french experience. Seven delicious courses of French Sunday lunch - wine included and coffee if you wish. It is a must for anyone interested in french food and long french lunches. Located in the pretty village of Grezels, la terrasse is a great insight into traditional french dining. The maison is superbly managed by le patron who greets seats and serves and attends throughout your delicious experience. Madam prepares the 6 courses beautifully. You are greeted by a well set table with genuine linen table clothes and napkins and an array of plates and cutlery that promises a great experience. The patron offers you an apperitif to start the digestive juices. A full carafe of red wine and cool water already on the table. The first course is delicious vegetable soup in a generous tureen to serve yourself. The next is a salad course with beautiful dressing. The next course was foie gras on toast with salad, dried apricots and gizzards, one of our groups favourite courses. Next was the fish course which was salmon with pink pepper corn tomato sauce and lemon. This was served with generous glasses of white wine. The main was beef with roast potatoes and roast tomatoes and salad. The the cheese course with a platter to your table with about 8 cheeses included which were beautifully prepared. The roquefort was superb soft sharp and creamy, obviously it had been at room temperature for sometime conditioning. The dessert was Brownie with raspberries in it with cream anglais and a sweet custard. You could have coffee if you wished. The dining room was a long cool well ventilated space with table setting for up to 50 delighted customers. You must book as no walk up customers are taken. There is no choice but the set menu which varies with the seasons. There was a mix of customers when we visited familes, couples, groups and friends. We are in the area for a month and this is one of the great and memorable experiences. We thoroughly recommend La Terrasse to all those french food lovers who want to immerse themselves in a great 3 hour lunch dining experience.

Superb eats. Foodies delight. Lovely village atmosphere. Sit in the old school playground. Inside is good too.

It is getting rare to find such places where, the owners work hard to bring a good meal for an excellent price in a lovely ambianceWhen I came to France, 25 years ago, there were many home from home places like this but you can consider this restaurant a dying breed nowLong may they be able to continue !The ex pats love hiding away on a wet winter Sunday for a hearty lunch, by the cosy fire

It is not easy to find this restaurant, but this does not stop it being one of the most popular destinations for those I the know. Don't expect a menu, or any choice. Instead prepare for a feast of good, hearty, plentiful food. Everything is home made and looks and tastes fantastic. It is the sort of place that you read about in books and magazines: great food, good value in an authentic old fashioned dining room. Local wine is included. Fussy eaters and the unadventurous should avoid it, for the rest of us it is a rare treat. Do remember to book, casual arrivals are often turned away.

As a family we have dined here for 25 years plus. The food and atmosphere is second to none. Very friendly and hospital hosts. Serge and his wife consistently provide very tasty food at a reasonable price. Highly recommended.

We have just visited for the fourth or fifth time over recent years. At €30 for a seven course Sunday lunch including an aperitif, copious wine and a pineau to conclude, it's amongst the best value and quality meal we've had anywhere in the world. There are lots of great reviews here, so I'm not going to repeat them. Just to say that we agree! ... and I'm glad Serge gets other people to drink wine out of the soup bowls! We thought he was having a joke at our expense. Just don't leave any food uneaten - Serge will dish it out before removing the now-empty platters! And we didn't see anyone arguing - best to keep on the right side of Le Patron. Well done Madame chef. Thank you. We will be back!

While on a trip to the mid-Pyrenees, we stopped by La Terrasse when passing through the little town of Grezels. We didn't have a reservation and couldn't get a table. With the help of Google translate, my wife called and negotiated a reservation for a couple of days later. La Terrasse is run by a husband and wife team...she cooks and he runs the front of the house. They are open from 12:00 until 2:00...the traditional French lunch time...show up shortly after noon. There is no menu. You eat what they serve, which on the day that we went started with a potato-leek soup, followed by a ham and cheese quiche, then liver with potatoes and haricot vert, cheese board, creme brulee and coffee...oh, yes and a liter of the local Malbec. Cost? $20 euros/person...no tax...no tip. Oh, don't forget to pour some wine into your empty soup bowl and slurp it down...trust me.

The typically unpretentious French village family restaurant; Madame in the kitchen and Monsieur in the restaurant. Alas, a disappearing breed of excellent small restaurants offering great food and a laid-back ambiance. The patron will insist that you eat up all the food that Madame has gone to all the trouble of preparing (all fresh, all local, no frozen),so go expecting to eat your fill! At €20 a head (except Sundays, where it's €30 and includes an additional fish course), including starters, main, cheese, dessert, wine and coffee, this is UNBEATABLE VALUE. The menu of the day is what you get - no choice and therefore not really suitable for vegetarians, vegans or other losers, who can always pop down to the riverbank and graze on the lush grass there. They're only open lunchtimes (Tuesday to Sunday), and reservations are very strongle recommended, as Madame will only cook for the numbers reserved. The wine, by the way, was excellent. The heterogeneous clientele included bankers, tourists, plumbers, farmers, nudists (clothed for the occasion) and a woman with strange hair.
