Bistrot qui paye pas de mine. Pour être honnête au premier abord je pensais que c'était juste un café, ce n'est pas évident de loin ou du moins étant sur la place de savoir qu'on peut y manger. Avec le beau temps il y avait des tables en terrasse donc je suis venu pour manger. 3 plats du jour, à mon avis maison, une carte avec 5-6 plats différents, ce qui est rassurant sur la qualité. Pareil pour le dessert avec quelques choix. J'ai pris une salade de fruit maison qui était vraiment excellente. Niveau prix c'est plus que abordable et même pas chère au vue de la qualité. Un plat du jour, un dessert, un café 13€70. Le restaurant était plein avec pas mal d'habitué qui travail dans le secteur. Signe aussi de qualité et de service, quand les locaux ont leur habitude. Les serveurs connaissaient pas mal de client en les appelant par leur prénom. Le service est parfait avec que des serveurs souriant, poli et serviable, de vrai commercant. je recommande vraiment ce restaurant et j'ai trouvé mon restaurant lors de mes prochains passage ici
Yesterday was the second time we had been here, the first just for a coffee with a friend (good coffee, nice atmosphere, we thought) and then this second time for lunch. We were lucky - we had got a bit lost on the back roads between Frevent and Hesdin and by the time we got here, almost everyone had finished lunchtime service. But Le Commerce's chef was still there and we got fed. we had no idea what "joues de porc au bourguignon" was (other than some part of a pig cooked bourguignon) but it was the "plat du jour" for 8.5€ so we decided to chance it. Well, whatever it was it was delicious - and the chips & carrots also very good. Much later, we looked it up - it's the cheeks! "And this is the part of the pig we don't use" said no French person, ever :) We're going to have a go at cooking this at home (the butcher in our village probably sells it - I doubt the local Carrefour or InterMarché do).Desert was crémé brûlée for one of us and the last portions of raspberry tart for the others. Both home made & both excellent. The raspberries were somewhat tart - but it's way out of season and the flavour was all there. They had half a portion left over... and it somehow ended up on my plate. The place is run by a couple, I think, and the service is efficient and friendly. This is not gourmet food although, to be honest, it's not that far off it in some respects, but good quality French country fare at a very reasonable price. This is also a "sport bar" which sells gambling/betting tickets so at busy times, the TVs are blaring & it can be a bit noisy - but it's a good-natured atmosphere.
Another sunny warm day and we were enjoying a coffee outside the Café Commerce, on the corner of Place d’Armes, Hesdin. As the town hall clock struck noon the idea of eating here also struck as Café Commerce has under its recent new owners developed a reputation for pretty good brasserie meals. “Let’s try it” we agreed.Selecting from the menu written on the blackboard on the pavement terrace we selected entrecôte, chips and salad followed by rumbaba; I chose poached salmon,rice and pommes vapeur. With each a chilled rosé seemed appropriate and was added to the order. Most of the patrons were French locals on their lunch break, always a good indication of quality.I have to say that each plate was excellent - juicy steak, red in the middle, fresh potatoes and chips, crunchy salad soft salmon and wild rice and strong black coffee to close. The sun raised the temperature up yet the bill wasn‘t; we paid just €24, incredible value. Highly recommended.
